Fantastic experience: I came across Portobello Dental Clinic after searching for a dentist that had options for sedation following extreme poor experiences at the dentist as a child. Also knowing I needed multiple teeth filled I was eager to find the easiest way to go about it. I called them up and after an extensive conversation with Ann-Marie (who’s job title escapes me) she assured me that they specialise in nervous patients and specifically recommend Dr. Stephen Taylor to me. Here I am now roughly 9 months later with all necessary teeth filled and an upcoming appointment with the hygienist and no longer with any nervousness about going back and as long as he is practicing I’ll be going to him. Can’t recommend them highly enough. Give them a call with any questions or concerns and all will be explained properly as should be the way.

Fantastic experience: Portobello Dental is the most professional practice I've used. Each interaction has been so professional, friendly, and helpful from whoever answers the phone to the Nurses and Dentists. They have been reliable in terms of seeing me quickly if I had any issues. They email after any work is done to check how I'm getting on and again after a treatment plan finished to check it had all gone well.

Fantastic experience: As an extremely nervous patient I can’t express how much Dr. Helen Walsh and all of the colleagues at portobello dental has made me feel so comfortable throughout my Invisalign treatment. As a nervous patient I felt it was very unrealistic to be able to achieve my dream smile but after Dr. Helen Walsh reassured me and customised a treatment plan while accommodating for all my worries I can now say I’m in love with my end result! Fantastic experience: Hi All, If you have no time to read my review than two words: Fantastic experience. If you do have time than here is my honest review: To begin with I have extremely sensitive teeth. Dr Stephen Taylor and his assistant Tajana treated me at Portobello Dental Clinic. Unfortunately I am 1 out of a 10,000 patient as I was told before where my teeth on my lower jaw can't be successfully anaesthetized. I went to more than 15 dentists in my life in different countries and so far only one managed to anaesthetize my lower jaw properly the others failed miserably. I couldn't take sedation this time so the only option left for me was to try if Dr Stephen Taylor and his assistant Tajana could administer anaesthetic where almost all my previous dentists failed. I was a sceptic to say the least and for that reason I was extremely nervous patient but I couldn't be more wrong. Not only during but after my treatment I remained absolutely pain free. Zero pain beyond the usual light pressure in the jaw where the anaesthetic was administered not mentioning keeping the mouth open for more than 2 hours is normal to feel a bit of a pressure afterwards. Anyway that was expected and I wouldn't even call it a discomfort. He took his time with his assistant to provide me the highest level of care possible and for that I can't recommended it enough. There is a bit of a waiting time but if somebody is in pain or just want to get their treatment done asap they will try their outmost to accommodate your request. Also Claire Brett dental hygienist worked her magic around my sensitive teeth. A happy patient. Regards, Peter

Fantastic experience: Very nice and comprehensive, I do recommend this place. The website had an issue when I made the online payment for booking and the payment had left my bank account but was not received by the clinic. They were super reactive and made sure I would not pay twice the amount of the visit. Thanks Katie for that! I was received by Doctor Stephen Taylor, very professional and friendly, he took the time to show me the x-ray results and my tooth photos to reassure me of a potential gum disease/decay. If you have any dental concerns you can go there blinded with your eyes closed.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend this dental practice especially if you’re in anyway nervous about visiting the dentist. The team at Portobello are great and will put you at ease straight away. I’ve been one of Helen’s patients for a few years and I’ve always been very happy with the results. Helen has excellent attention to detail and really focuses on ensuring you leave happy with your smile. I brought my son (2.5yrs) for his first check up with Stephen last weekend and we had a great experience. Stephen was very good with him, he made a real effort to ensure he was comfortable and surprisingly we had no tears. Claire, the hygienist is so lovely and provides great practical advice. After an accident and visit to a different emergency dental clinic last year, I was left feeling very nervous about going back to the dentist to continue treatment. Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to Portobello dental for years and hands down the best dentists I’ve been to. I’ve had everything from fillings done/replaced, wisdom teeth removed under anaesthetic and even my Invisalign done with them and I continue to have my regular check ups and teeth cleaning done with them as I know I’ll be the best care from them. The reception staff are also amazing and so accommodating if appointments need changing, receipts need resending or anything like that. 10/10 recommend them.

The exceptional knowledge and skill, paired with the equipment and materials available at this practice, created a “finished product” that I can smile with and be confident in. Never are things rushed, questions are encouraged and a high degree of professionalism is portrayed in ensuring that you know and are happy with the treatment being proposed before the hands on work begins. Once in the chair, I was pain-free and relaxed up until I was delighted with the result I was shown on all occasions. The team here should be immensely proud of what they have built and are a part of.

Negative experience: This dental clinic is very unaccommodating. My husband booked a Monday emergency appointment due to a toothache since the weekend. His dentist wasn’t available, so he scheduled with another dentist for 5:20 pm. The clinic confirmed the appointment at lunchtime, but as he parked outside, the receptionist called to say he was late and the dentist couldn’t see him. He was only 8 minutes late, well within their 10-minute grace period, yet the dentist refused to see him. The receptionist offered a Tuesday appointment but required advance payment. My husband said that he will check online if there’s any time that will suit him, but the receptionist told him he would still need to pay there in the clinic before he can book online. I told my husband that he need to switch to a more understanding and reliable clinic. He’s now booked an appointment with my dentist.

Fantastic experience: Updating my review as I recently had some bonding work done by Dr Beirne and I’m so incredibly impressed by the result. I had a few cosmetic things that were bothering me and believed that I’d need a few years of braces to fix the problem. I mentioned this to Nick and he suggested a solution with bonding that would fix what was bothering me without the fuss, time and expense of braces. In less than two hours Nick made a radical improvement to my smile. It’s hard to believe that the result was achieved with bonding as it looks so natural and seamless. I’ve gained a huge amount of confidence as he listened carefully to what was bothering me and made sure he addressed those areas. It’s hugely creative work - nobody can believe the result I have from just a couple of hours work by Nick. It’s also always a pleasure to chat to him and the time passes easily. His assistant was so kind too. Prior to this, I've been to see both Dr Beirne for dental treatment and Dr Helen Walsh (for a consultation about Invisalign) and both of them were fantastic. The first time I visited Dr Beirne he saved a tooth that I was previously told needed a root canal, and he talked me through the process and made me feel so comfortable and well looked after. Dr Walsh was also brilliant, really taking the time to consider my teeth as they are and lay out the best options taking my lifestyle and budget into account. Everyone else there is lovely and good at what they do, from the hygienists to the team on reception. I feel so lucky to go to a dentist where I know they look after people. Very much recommend PDC!

Negative experience: I went there in December last year, I needed to fix my upper jaw teeth and the doctor left a bruise on my lower jaw. It hurt for few days I regret not telling them on time, it was before Christmas and I had other things to do. I went to Portobello because my partner goes there, and he really likes it. Now I went to different dentist, and my new dentist said it should not be like this ( the treatment was on upper jaw, but I have a bruise on lower jaw) I assume it depends on the doctor there, maybe I wasn’t lucky. Make sure to read reviews about the doctors you are going to before actually getting a treatment.

Fantastic experience: Portobello Dental Clinic is an exceptional patient centred dental clinic staffed by an excellent team. I really like the option of being able to discuss one's Treatment Plan with a Clinic Co-Ordinator. Dr Stephen Taylor is a most enthusiastic, solutions focused and non judgmental dentist with an excellent dental skillset. I found all staff members at this practice to be most courteous, helpful and professional at all times. As a Midland resident my 3.5 hour round trip to and from Dublin was most worthwhile. Fantastic experience: This review has been a long time coming! I ended up moving from Dublin before I could see Claire again for my hygienist appointment )))): a big thank you to Claire and all her work getting me to a place I can floss with my permanent retainers. She was the first hygienist who cared about it, got me back too see her again in order to do all that deep cleaning. Thank you so much! I am now flossing twice a day with those little flossers and those other great flossers she had showed me for the back of my teeth. Before I saw Claire, I never would have thought I could have gotten those little flosser in between my teeth with the permanent retainer. I had believed my future to be a flossless one ): But Claire changed that future! A massive and gigantic Thank You! :D If I ever return to Dublin, I know exactly who my hygienist will be.

Fantastic experience: What a wonderful practice, I can't recommend it highly enough. From my first appointment which I approached cautiously, even suspiciously. as I had been to two other high profile practices in Dublin. in the previous two years with very disappointing results, to my final appointment ten months later, the whole experience was professional yet warm from everyone from the reception staff to the hygienist, to the dental nurses, right up to my dentist Dr. Stephen Taylor. I wanted two upper bridges replaced; it had been years since I had smiled without putting my hand up to my mouth and laughter had to be toned down as well - difficult when you're naturally gregarious with an instinct to both smile and laugh often which I suppose is most peoples default. I hesitated about trying once again for a nice smile. Dr. Stephen outlined a suggested plan on my first visit with no pressure whatsoever. I got plenty of time to think about it and then went for it with an an agreed plan and price for doing the work in two stages. After stage one I didn't hesitate to go for my second bridge replacement and by the time I had that done we extended the plan - a third bridge. I was over the moon with the result. My smile is gorgeous, even if I say so myself, lol and my laughter natural and spontaneous - 'personality enhancement' lol. The cost was extremely competitive to put it mildly. One high profile practice quoted three times what I paid for my cosmetically enhanced smile at Portabello Clinic. Finally what can I say about Dr Stephen Taylor? Professional at all times, patient at all times, engaging at all times. A five star practice with a five star dentist. Thank you all. Mary

Negative experience: Very disappointed with this place. I first attended a few years ago when I needeed to do a gum surgery because I had recession of the gums, I am not going to mention the name of the dentist but he prescribed me a Painkiller for 2 days after the procedure, however it got infected and tried to reach out someone from the Dentists and I could not get through, I had the worst pain of my life. Apart from this, the stitches from the surgery fell out and started bleeding, luckily my husband was at home because I fainted and I could probably be in a very bad position if he was not there. As I said, I could not get hold anyone in the dentist during this emergency. I'm not sure if it's normal the stitches fall out and you ended up fainting and getting an infection without the proper medication. I still continued going to the same dentist and I do not even know why when i think about it now. Recently, I booked an appointment and waited for 4 months to be able to see the hygienists and then they asked me if they could rebook the appointment 15 mins earlier and I said OK, unfortunately I got to the dentist 9 mins late and they said that the hygienist could not see me. To confirm, I have now finally learned my lesson with Portobello and will never attend again!

Easy to reschedule and adjust the appointment to your schedule, front of house staff is extremely nice and helpful, they also call you to remind you of your appointment few days beforehand which is great. Fantastic experience: I have been a patient of the Portobello Dental clinic for several years now and have very recently come to the end of an Invisalign “journey”. The entire experience can only be described as incredible – it’s difficult to pinpoint one specific thing that made it so, so I won’t even try! The process started with a comprehensive consultation with the dentist – Dr Walsh, who spent a huge amount of time explaining the Invisalign process to me, citing the pros, cons, expected outcomes, treatment timelines and plans. Everything was outlined clearly, and the decision ultimately left up to me to proceed with the plan or not. The team made sure I understood exactly what to expect during each step of the treatment. Once I decided to move forward, work began to create a customized treatment plan that would meet my specific needs, aims and goals. One of the many things that sets Portobello Dental apart from others is their Treatment Coordinator Service, an initiative I have not encountered elsewhere. Simply put, Anne-Marie went above and beyond - available at all times throughout to ensure appointments were on track, I was happy with the progress and just even checking in to see if I had any questions (there were a few), it really made huge difference. I don’t generally “do” reviews but having achieved the smile I wanted, in just over 7 months coupled with the overall experience – it’s warranted. No doubt the Invisalign experience differs from person to person, in my case it’s been a great success. It is most certainly a “journey” and a time and money investment but worth it. Like everything, you get out of it what you put into it. The entire team in Portobello Dental were behind me every step of the way and made sure the plan was set up for success. If you’re looking to investigate Invisalign, or any other dental need, Portobello Dental should be your first port of call – “Dentists” or “Smile Architects” I can’t decide which is most fitting! Fantastic experience: Like everyone, I really don't like going the dentists, and I struggled over the years to keep up regular visits to one as any I have gone to have been subpar or worse, until I found Portobello Dental Clinic and Dr Helen Walsh, from the first visit to the most recent one ( and there have been a few, tooth pulled, root canal treatment, replacing 2 crowns on my front teeth and a cuple of fillings ), the quality of work and care is above and beyond anything I've dealt with in the past and can't thank or recommend them enough, it's expensive but you get the best and it's money well spent, I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Portobello Dental Clinic to anyone ( and I have sent a cuple of friends down and all said the same) Again, thanks, Portobello Dental Clinic. Fantastic experience: Every experience I have had at Portobello dental has been wonderful. The practice administrators and helpful and well organised, and the facilities, dentists, nurses, and hygienists are all top class. Just as importantly, though, I always feel as though they listen closely to my concerns and take my input totally seriously. Other times I have had dental work and orthodontia, I have felt as though things are out of my control. Working with Portobello Dental and especially Dr. Daniel Browne has been an entirely different experience. No matter what my question or issue, Dr. Browne listens carefully and explains exactly what is happening and what my options are. The results have been great! I am delighted with my smile after some orthodontic work, and I would recommend Portobello Dental to anyone who is looking for a straighter smile.

Fantastic experience: I recently had some dental work done by Dr. Helen Walsh, and I cannot express my satisfaction enough. From the moment I stepped into her clinic, I was greeted by a friendly and professional staff who made me feel at ease. I had bonding and a porcelain crown placed to repair an old dead front tooth, which had been a source of self-consciousness for years. Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend Portobello Dental Clinic highly enough. I’d never been before yesterday and booked in as an emergency case, I was in complete agony. I met the angel Dr Stephen Taylor and was immediately put at ease. A root canal and a few hours later when the local anaesthetic wore off, I was feeling as good as new again. They are a highly efficient clinic with expert care, with surgeons and specialists on site. Stephen took time to explain and talk me through all options, the care and compassion was incredible and he was just generally so reassuring. I cannot thank Stephen and his equally warm and friendly assistant Karim highly enough. Amazing service and care. Love this place!

Fantastic experience: As someone who hasn't visited a dental practitioner in years (couple of dodgy experiences), I was quite surprised at how much everything has advanced technically. The building itself is Georgian but the surgical rooms are really well equipped with modern equipment. Getting Dental X-Rays on my first visit was unexpected (a first for me) but the nurses were super. Back up to the room for a review with the doctor who was super by the way (Cheers Daniel). Definitely my choice going forward with confidence on my oral health journey. Just a heads up to any newcomers. You need to get parking on the nearby streets. 4 Euros covered my visit which in the grand scheme of not having tootaches is fine with me!

From the warm and friendly receptionists to the exceptional Dr Nick Beirne and his wonderful nurses!! As someone who had been through a lot before finding Dr Beirne I cannot believe how easy everything went with my treatment. Extraction, a breeze! Implants a doddle and all the while performed with efficient, professional, care and compassion that I really needed to feel confident and comfortable in a dentist’s chair again. Fantastic experience: I was in a bad bicycle accident just over 2 years ago and broke 10 teeth including my front 2 teeth and lost 1 tooth. Dr Nick Beirne saved me and has just completed all my work and I have a brand new smile . Nick and his team did an amazing job and I couldn't be happier . Fantastic experience: It must be the best dental clinic in the country. It’s at least the best I’ve ever visited. Got a Crown done, it was made in the clinic they use the most advanced technology I’ve ever seen. From 3D scanners and programs to a mill that just makes the tooth in like 10 minutes. The staff are extremely friendly and ready to help answer any questions that you might have. Honestly I’d give more stars but they only let me do 5

Fantastic experience: I write this review as I commence my retention journey with my new perfect smile. I cannot begin to describe how happy I am with the final results Dr Walsh was able to provide me with. My journey began with an extremely informative consultation around getting Invisalign braces on both my top and bottom teeth. This also included a conservation around cosmetic work that would happen after the treatment. My original smile had some smaller upper teeth, minor twisting and shading from previous composite bonding on the top with a lot of overcrowding on the bottom set of teeth. Some bottom teeth were also worn down from grinding in my sleep. When I now compare the old to the new smile, there is a dramatic difference! I have consented to the clinic sharing these pictures so you may be able to see for yourself on their website. At no stage of this treatment was I in pain. The initial spacing of the teeth is uncomfortable but not painful. I was reassured by Dr. Walsh that I could request a break from this work at any stage but I didn't feel the need to take her up on this offer. For the Invisalign treatment, I had 15 different trays that I changed every week on a Monday. These were supplied to me in sets of 4/5 with a checkup appointment with Dr. Walsh in between receiving new sets of trays. Here Dr. Walsh was able to check that everything was moving the way it should by comparing progress with the original computer imaging scan (very interesting looking at this as you can clearly see progress being made and also what to expect in the coming weeks or months). Wearing the Invisalign retainers takes a bit of getting used to, especially when removing them to eat throughout the day. You get used to this and will devise your own plan around having equipment to brush and clean your teeth and trays at home and at work. You need to wear them for 22h per day. After I completed my 15 weeks of Invisalign treatment, my smile was still not complete. Dr. Walsh explained in the initial planning consult, that using the Invisalign treatment to also create space while straightening teeth to allow for full cosmetic composite bonding to build up smaller teeth, would produce the best results. She wasn't wrong! After the Invisalign treatment I had two composite bonding sessions, one lasting 3.5 hours (top) and around 2.5 hours on the bottom teeth. Believe me when I say that I could not stop looking at my new smile when this work was complete. Dr. Walsh's plan worked perfectly, and as I mentioned at the beginning of this review, I cannot describe how happy I am with the final results. Dr. Walsh was amazing to work with and I cannot recommend her highly enough. The communication and level of care I received throughout the entire process was exceptional. Dr. Walsh even came into the clinic outside of her normal hours to ensure that I was still on track with my Invisalign treatment as I missed an appointment due to testing positive for covid-19. If you are considering Invisalign treatment or cosmetic bonding, I would highly recommend using Portobello Dental Clinic. The results in the photographs speak for themselves. Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend Portobello Dental highly enough. I have had numerous treatments at the clinic with Dr Walsh, Dr O'Dwyer and also Grainne one of the clinics Hygienists. From the moment you walk through the door you are made feel very welcome by the front of house staff. I used to be a very nervous patient when attending the dentist but every time I have had treatment at Portobello Dr Walsh and the nurses take the time to explain the treatment and make you feel very relaxed. I found my hygienist Grainne to be excellent, she was very informative about the treatment and also gave great advice on daily oral hygiene, which I feel has really helped. My whole family have been coming to this practice for years and we would always recommend Portobello Dental Clinic to friends and family.

Fantastic experience: Recently visited for a root canal issue - absolutely wonderful experience from the moment I walked in. Receptionist was a pleasure to deal with, the surroundings are extremely comfortable and Dr Omar was an absolute gentleman. Would highly recommend to all.

Negative experience: I just came from abroad and was advised to get my dental stitches removed and work on Root Canal treatments from any dental clinic in Ireland. I couldn't remove them back home as I didn't have enough time due to short-timing and work obligations. The receptionist wasn't very cooperative, she told me that I need to get a full consultation and that wouldn't guarantee that I will have the stiches removed, and after having her ask her Doctor, she replied with "You have to get your stitches removed and go back to your original dentist and come back for a full consultation of 95 Euros". She basically asked me to travel back and pay 2 full round trip tickets to get the stiches removed. I don't think removing stitches from dental professionals is hard. Horrible customer experience, service, and overly priced. No compassion for people, just money.

Negative experience: AVOID AVOID AVOID Absolutely terrible practice. In my opinion they are rude, arrogant and the work was of a poor standard. Over priced and left me need pain killers for a long time after seeing them.

Fantastic experience: First time patient and couldn't have asked for a better all around service. Comprehensive treatment with patient input on your needs and wants at all times. All the treatment had a keen eye to my future dental care and health. Very friendly and caring staff who are good at what they do.

Fantastic experience: I'm terrified of dentists and after 15 years of avoiding some essential work, I was recommended to Portobello dentist by my friend. I can not explain how amazing everyone from Daisey the dentist to the reception staff where I won't be leaving as long to get work done again.

Negative experience: Clinic is nice, clean. Note that you can't have anything for your first appointment. The first one is to have some sort of interview to have a plan of actions for the next months. Not my cup of tea, just needed a quick descaling, waste an appointment and money for nothing.

Fantastic experience: Had the pleasure of getting some work completed with Dr Omar, and it was excellent. I was at another dental practice for orthodontic work and was not pleased at all with the unprofessional manner and results . However, I decided to contact Portobello Dental and I am delighted I decided to do so. I was put at ease by their professionalism and general great way they help put me at ease.
