Fantastic experience: I have been a patient with Dr Muriel for many years so this review is overdue. All my experiences have been extremely positive. Everyone is very patient focused - from scheduling via email or phone through to the Dentists and the nurses. I always feel that I am part of the decision making process and that I get all the information. Today, I emailed about a last minute appointment for a really painful tooth and they did their best to squeeze me in. I am so thankful to everyone working here

Fantastic experience: Got my tooth extraction done by Dr. Muriel, she was extremely patient and kind throughout the procedure. I was really scared of getting the extraction, but she explained the process, made sure that there was no pain at any point. As someone who is petrified of dentist, I would recommend you going to Dr. Muriel.

Negative experience: I had root canal treatment with Muriel. 2 sessions. I paid for both when I shouldn’t have paid. I was told in July that the prices will be 180€ for each session (3 in total if needed). Which is 540€ in total. Well, they told me this in July and the doctor wrote it down for me. Unfortunately, I only saved the receipt instead of the paper where that was written. It was just for my personal information but they doubled the prices in October and I was told to pay 370€ for the second session which was completely out of the blue. I paid that but cancelled my last session obviously since they were implying that their prices were always the same. I remembered the prices pretty well since I asked several times so no, not fair. They do not save their records so we customers have to be vigilant. My tooth broke in half a week after the second session where a new nerve was suddenly discovered. I use to do all my tooth work in Spain and they usually need 1 session for everything. The second time you go is for a permanent filling if all goes well. My mouth is full of dead nerves and I did it so many times I know how they do it. Never someone told me they discovered another one in the second session out of nowhere because it was hidden. That just doesn’t happen if someone really cares about your tooth. I see many people here are already long term customers, they know each other and probably have no clue about this. But they have an amazing business model to make money to make you go several times plus very weak temporal fillings where you can easily risk a tooth crack. Not recommended and very disappointing system. Try other countries and you will see the difference yourself. The picture says more than words. That was the temporal filling with some Gauze, not an actual temporal paste. Tooth cracks are inevitable and they make you wait for 2 months. Unbelievable.

Fantastic experience: While traveling in Ireland, Cork specifically, urgently needed to see a dentist. He placed a call to Haly Dental Care and the receptionist, Kate, was lovely and super helpful. She gave him an appointment with Charles Haly at 10 am. When we arrived, the office, was clean, the staff was friendly, and he was seen almost immediately. After determining the cause of the issue, Dr. Haly prescribed what was needed and we were finished within 40 minutes. Next, a 5-minute walk and we found the pharmacy. Not the experience you hope to have on vacation - needing a dentist - however, this practice made the process so easy. We cannot thank them enough.

Fantastic experience: Highly efficient.

Negative experience: The hygienist visit was an awful experience. She needled over my hypersensitive teeth in such a rush, as if her life depended on it. The pain was so intense i had to grab a chair i was lying on. No anaesthetic or anything. At the end of this nightmare I got yet another lecture on how to properly brush/floss my teeth... And my teeth are squeeky clean and always flossed. So may be there are other reasons why the gums might be receding or bleeding? Those reasons are obvious actually, but nobody ever discussed them with me. It is easier for them to repeat same lecture time after time, like a parrot, instead of digging into the problem and trying to find a solution/ treatment.

Fantastic experience: I done for my filling with DR.Muriel, she is quite professional and caring dentist, always checking I am okay during the treatment, and she mentioned the potential pain after filling the teeth which is normal and make me feel comfortable. Thanks Dr Muriel.

Fantastic experience: I previously had veneers fixed with another dentist. I had an accident with one of my front teeth where the crown and the original tooth completely snapped off. I did online research and it appeared my only alternative was a screw in tooth implant. Which is quite invasive and expensive requiring to completely drill out the original tooth root. I paid Haly's dentist a visit where on my first two appointments my root canal was treated. The last / third appointment involved re-fixing the original crown with a carbon fibre post. I would like to thank Charlie and his team for saving my tooth and the expense of an implant. I highly recommend this dental practice !

Negative experience: overpriced comparing to other dentists avoid

Fantastic experience: As someone who has a fear of the dentist I couldn’t recommend Haly Dental Care enough. From the second I walked through the door everyone was so friendly and really helpful. From the staff at the desk to the dental team everyone made sure that I was comfortable and reassured any worries I may have had. I can’t praise them enough

Fantastic experience: Amazing service from Charlie and the team, I’m always looked after and given the best care. My smile has been transformed since I began my journey with Haly’s.

Negative experience: Bad experience, bad filling, bad root canal，bad dental. In November, I spent 180 euro to fill a tooth, and then my tooth was very painful in the two days after filling. The pain lasted about three weeks. I couldn't stand it. Taking pain tablets could not stop the pain. After I went to the clinic, the dental told me to do root canal. The most disgusting thing was that when I asked what caused the pain, the doctor told me that I didn't understand She said. OMG, she just told me this is very deep filling.I spent nearly 600 euro to make a root canal for this tooth, because the time difference between the first root canal treatment and the second one was too long, and my tooth was broken a piece. Final it took three months. It's the end of the ordeal, and my tooth has changed from one to half. Absolutely true experience, with my X-ray !!

Fantastic experience: Impressive helpful staff. In my particular case, they went above and beyond to fix the painful tooth in the shortest time possible. I definitely recommend them and their high end service.

Negative experience: Went before the pandemic and had to get two fillings. Felt like I was on a conveyor belt system, go in and come straight out again. Everything felt very rushed and as if they didn't have any time for me. This wasn't an emergency appointment either. I had issues with one of the fillings, went back two times for them to rectify it and it didn't help at all. Am now having to have it re-done at another dentist. I didn't want to have them do the filling again. In total I had to go back five times. This wasn't strictly necessary but they had such tight time slots that the dentist didn't have enough time for me. If you need a dentist; there are friendlier, more caring and also a bit more affordable options in Cork. I am now at another dentist and way happier.

Fantastic experience: I have been with Muriel for about a year after trying out different dentists in cork. I feel really well taken care of with her as you can see that she has got the best interest of her patients in mind. She is thoughtful with the anesthesia so you don’t feel any pain. She offers an explanation of the problem and tells you what she would do but will do also great work when you insist on something else for whatever reasons. Altogether I am sorry to leave her as I will be leaving Ireland. Thank you.

Negative experience: My dentist was Muriel Mulhaire. I know this review is long but please read it as it might save you a lot of money. The following is my experience and does not mean it has or will happen to everyone but it did happen to me and after reading reviews I am not the only one. I know that dentists are expensive and that this is pretty much the only place that I am aware of that provides payment plans (which is why I went here in the first place) but please be careful. This is a late review but I feel like I need to share it and let people know about my experience with Haly Dental Care. I went in because my tooth was bothering me as it had cavity in it. I was told I need a filling and that it will cost me 20 euro for x-ray and than 150 euro from r the filling (estimated because this was a year ago and I can't recall actual prices). So I ended up going with this filling and about two weeks later same tooth starts to hurt again. I called back and I was told that maybe the filling didn't set in properly and that they will replace the filling. After that maybe a month or so passed and again same tooth starts to hurt. So I go in for a third time at this point and they now tell me " the decay has spread further than we thought so we will need to do root canal. "... OK so I asked how much it will cost me... 450 euro I was told. So I asked what about the 150 I paid for a thing that I didn't need? "Well its a separate procedure so we will have to charge you 450". I was mad but hey what can I do... So I go through with it and they do the root canal and put in a temporary filling. I was told to come back in few weeks to get an actual filling. After a while I come back they put in an actual filling for which I paid again... A month passes and the tooth starts to hurt AGAIN. At this point I am really frustrated and I leave a bad review on this. They contact me asking me to come back to have a look for free... Finally I think, they might actually do something. So i change the bad review from 1 star to 4. But no I come in and I'm told I have a "hairline fracture" on the same tooth and that they can fix it for me but guess what... I have to pay AGAIN! Half price though!!!! Yay!!! Now I am in terrible pain for few days and I decide to call them and ask them "I can't afford to fix it anymore. I already put in over 600 euro with no results. Can you just remove it for me". I am told this " You have to come in for us to have a look first if there is an infection we can't remove it until the infection in treated." I started to smell BS straight away and I called another dentist. Explained everything and asked them to help me because I am in a lot of pain. They took me in same day and told me that the root canal was not done properly and that they would have to redo it which would cost me 800 euro, but they guaranteed me that it will be done properly this time. However since Haly Dental Care drained me dry I couldn't afford it so I asked him to just remove it which was 100 euro. He removed it same day and guess what I didn't have to wait for no infection to clear, because Haly Dental Care just lied to me to get me back in there!!! I felt cheated and robbed not only of my money but my time and most importantly my TOOTH!!! Haly Dental Care please do not try to contact me this time because I will not remove this review this time. There is nothing you can do for me anymore because my tooth is gone... Thanks for that.

Fantastic experience: I can highly recommend Haly Dental Clinic. I am new to Cork and after having a strong pain to my teeth, I was not sure which dentist to choose. I went with google search and ratings. I did not know who would have been my dentist. Dentist Muriel Mulhaire was an absolute professional and friendly person. She did a perfect job on a problematic teeth!

Fantastic experience: I went to Haly Dental on Friday the 26th of April for an emergency appointment. I was not registered with them yet Charlie still took time to see me even though he had plans for his lunch. I'm extremely greatful, as you know yourself, an emergency appointment is normally because you're in a lot of pain. The service was excellent, from reception right the way through. I was made to feel really comfortable, lets face it, nobody likes to go to a new dentist. The receptionist, nurses and Charlie were all really friendly. The building is really nicely decorated and is spotless. I feel I got a great service on the day and I am now going to remain a customer of Haly Dental. I read other reviews on here before booking and the two negative ones nearly put me off, I'm glad I ignored them as my experience was very pleasant.

Negative experience: AVOID I switched to Haly Dental after a bad experience with another practice last year. In June I went for a checkup at Haly Dental and everything was fine. Unfortunately, that was the last time things were fine. In August my lower right No. 7 was starting to get aggravated and I booked an appointment to see the dentist. I was working abroad so I booked the appointment weeks in advance for 14:30 the day I was at home in August and was going to see the orthodontist at 15:30 afterwards. I arrived early and took a seat in the waiting room. At 14:55 I still hadn't been seen so I went to the receptionist and explained that I was only in Ireland for the day, and that I had another appointment at 15:30. I was then seen by Charlie Haly himself who had a look at my tooth. At this point it was pretty aggravated and the gum was visibly reddened at the rear of the tooth. Charlie what can only be described as a cursory look and told me everything was fine and there was no problem, and to say hello to the orthodontist for him at my next appointment. I was in and out in 5 mins. I went back to work and over the coming months, the aggravation became worse and worse and I knew something was wrong. I came back to Ireland again and made the first appointment I could which was 11am today (26th Nov 2018). At 11:05, the dentist arrived in to begin her working day, already late. She saw me in the waiting room and then proceeded to have quite a blunt conversation with the receptionist about another female patient who had made a complaint about her. This was in full earshot of the waiting room and we heard every word of it. I don't know the ins and outs of the situation, and it's none of my business... but let's just say that patient confidentiality was not a consideration. This conversation went on for a further 10/15 mins and then I was eventually seen around 11:20. When I was in the surgery, I mentioned how the aggravation had gotten worse since I'd last been in, and how I was disappointed because the hygienist whom I'd seen earlier had said that I had a cavity, and I had presented with the same aggravation in August and had been told everything was fine. The dentist was quite dismissive of the hygienist and told me that only she and Charlie were qualified to make that diagnosis... she then had a look and said yes I had a considerable cavity. I was pretty disappointed with this as I knew something was wrong months earlier, and now I had a cavity that was much bigger and had worsened considerably in the meantime. I have a steel band around my tooth as I'm wearing braces at the moment, so it allegedly concealed the cavity first time around... however I don't think it's too much to ask that if a patient presents with a complaint of an aggravated tooth with a band on it, that a dentist actually has an in depth look at that area, instead of literally having a glance and saying "yeah that's fine." Anyway, she offered to do a temporary filling until my braces come off in a few weeks, and I told her that because the appointment had gone so far over time already that I had to go. I have no confidence in their work anymore anyway. I left after a chat with the dentist and the receptionist and will not return. This place is supposed to be one of the best clinics in cork, and on two occasions my appointments have been considerably delayed, one of which was the dentists first appointment of the day. One of these delayed appointments resulted in me being rushed through a checkup by another dentist who missed that I had a cavity forming (allegedly concealed) and it took a further 3 months of discomfort and a secondary checkup to find out that I had a cavity all along and now my tooth is in an even worse condition than it was in. I've also witnessed them openly discussing another patients complaint and talking about her in what can only be described as "unfriendly" terms in front of other patients and that's really putting it mildly. Perhaps I've just been unlucky, but this was my experience of Haly Dental Care. I won't be going back.

Dr. Sheehan did great work on some serious fillings for me and anaesthesia was always considerate and ultimately effective. Feeling a lot more confident about my smile thanks to their work!

Negative experience: Got an appointment with them to get my teeth checked, due to good reviews here. 1. The dentist said I had 3 shallow fillings to be done, but insisted on 2 x-ray, ok, however unecessessary. Why take x-ray for minor fillings? 2. When leaving the first appointment I asked for the total price of everything the receptionist pointed to a paper in the way. I said I couldn't understand, I wanted the prices explained to me, as fillings could go from 80 to 120 - or something like that, the receptionist just looked away and ignored my request. 3. Got an appointment for 2 fillings. I had no pain, but decided to trust the dentist anyway. After 5 injections - that are still sore 24hs after - she did the supposed fillings. 4. When leaving I was charged 270 EUR! 270 EUR for 2 partial fillings! Or basically 1 1/2, as in the pictures she showed I could only see one filling done. Result: I have pain now where I didn't have before, I was overcharged, and basically need to find another dentist to go through the process again, as I can't trust this one anymore. If you feel that is good for you, sure, get an appointment with them.

Fantastic experience: Great for children My son chipped his tooth on holidays. He was nearly 3 when I brought him in. Muriel and the dental nurse were absolutely great. They put him at complete ease and they were very patient. I'm a patient myself there and a very nervous on at that but Muriel has always communicated very clearly to me any procedure and the steps involved etc. The hygienist is very thorough too. And a good communicator too. They are a great team and it is never as bad as I think it will be. (I am a real bad dental patient). I would recommend this practice to young, old, nervous and not nervous!

Fantastic experience: We recently visited this dentist after our 3 year old daughter urgently needed an extraction. We had to ring around a number of dentists most of whom wouldn't even consider working with a 3 year old (which I think is quite poor form). But thankfully this dentist agreed to see us at very short notice on a Saturday afternoon. Right from meeting our daughter she made her feel very comfortable throughout what was undoubtedly a stressful experience at that age. What most impressed me was that this dentist didn't make any presumptions (that all children are difficult to work with) and just kept an open mind. As it turned out our daughter was extremely brave throughout the procedure (probably taking it better than most adults). Needless to say we are very proud of our little hero and very thankful to this dentist and her assistant. The practice itself was very clean and comfortable and we were allowed accompany our daughter throughout the procedure. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this practice.

Fantastic experience: Really great experience, especially for someone who hates the dentist as much as I do. The staff were lovely, especially the receptionist who was so patient when we couldn't find my file! 5 stars, would definitely go again.

Fantastic experience: Haly dental care was recommended to me by a friend after my own dentist moved and I haven't looked back since. As soon as you walk in the door you are greeted with a friendly smile and a warm atmosphere. I would be quite a nervous patient but I was completely put at ease by all the wonderful and extremely understanding staff. I now wonder why I ever dreaded the dentist!! Charlie is an absolute gent and will talk you through everything he is doing which I found to be a huge help. Also kate on the front desk will always have a friendly smile and does her utmost to make sure your visit is a pleasant one. All in all a fabulous surgery and I cannot recommend them highly enough!!
