Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend Dr. McKenna enough! I accidentally flossed out part of my wisdom tooth root canal cap/filler and she was able to squeeze me in for a consult at very short notice. I originally requested to just have the tooth yanked, but she recommended a crown since it was still functional, and then made room in her schedule for a very tricky crown fitting, followed by an installation a week later. Throughout the entire process, Dr. McKenna was kind, gentle, informative, and caring. She worked seamlessly with her dental tech Justina (shout out to Justina’s prowess with the suction tool!) and I felt completely at ease and totally taken care of. AND, I even got to keep the mold of my teeth - just in time for Halloween! Highly, HIGHLY recommend!!!

I'm a nervous patient, but my fears were put at ease by the calm and professional manner of the team from the moment I first stepped in the door. I had some deep cavities repaired - the procedure was completely painless. Dr. Finnerty and Dr. McKenna were both very friendly and reassuring, so I did not feel nervous at all about my treatment. I will be coming back for further treatment in the future.

Fantastic experience: I saw Dr. Finnerty 3 times over the last 2 weeks for some fillings. This was my first time visiting Ranelagh Village Dental and I highly recommend it. As good an experience as I could possibly have hoped for. Each filling was as painless as possible and I was able to go back to work immediately after the appointments and my mouth was back to feeling 100% normal within a couple of hours.

Fantastic experience: I had a wonderful wisdom tooth extraction with Dr. Dermot Finnerty. I didn't feel a thing the whole time. Even the anaesthetic itself was completely painless. Dr. Dermot has years of experience and answered any questions I had about after care etc. The dental nurse was very kind and put me at ease. I definitely would recommend anyone to come here because they are so lovely and are very caring as well as extremely knowledgeable and experienced, I'm so happy I found this clinic.

Fantastic experience: Dr Finnerty is firstly fabulous at being a dentist. He is knowledgable, experienced and gives sound, practical advice. He had a pleasant demeanour and every visit I found it to be a positive experience. He will tell you what you’re doing wrong in relation to oral hygiene and maintenance and show you how to fix it. As a person he is also very polite and an absolute gentleman. Top class dentist I would highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: I could not have asked for a better dentist experience than my experience with Dr McKenna. If there was a checklist for all the things you would need to be a fantastic dentist, she would tick all the boxes. Not only did she give me two fillings and take out a wisdom tooth in a way that was pain-free and almost pleasant (!), she is clearly an expert at what she does, is efficient, makes sure to explain things, and does so in a way that allows you to really understand what she's talking about, is friendly and genuine, and from what I can see, she truly cares about her patients. She also gave me a floss-product recommendation that has been a game-changer! I highly, highly recommend her.

Fantastic experience: I was a very nervous patient going to Dr Finnerty, hadn't been to a dentist for years. I was totally put at ease, didn't feel a thing when getting my teeth deep cleaned. Even with my fear of needles I didn't feel a thing. He was highly recommended by several people in Ranelagh and they were right.

Fantastic experience: For whom it may concern. Dr. Finnerty was very professional, light hands and patient at all the time. He fixed 2 decays anx one of them was a hard work. Nearly 1 hour on his chair and I left the clinic so happy. He let me use my medical card and he said in advance that the treatment could be more 100Euro than the medical card cover. I was expecting to pay for that and he did not accept anh cash from me at this stage. I am lookjng forwerd to rise money to fix a broken crown and return to him. His helper is so professional as well. Everyone must use masks, hands gel and that is fabolous. Great experience even because I have been in another dentist before that did not take X ray and said to me that I had no decay, but there were 2 dangerous ones. No x ray, no right diagnose. Highly recommended!

I am an EXTREMELY nervous patient and she was so reassuring and comforting. The dental nurses are just as warm and welcoming and the level of professionalism throughout is amazing! Dr. McKenna brought me and my teeth/gums on a journey involving a good deal of complex intricate work and I’m pleased to say my teeth are in brilliant shape. Fantastic experience: I have been going to Dr McKenna for 2 years now and every experience, even when getting a filling or crown has been much more professional and pleasent than other dentists I have visited. The team was great during the hight of Covid with extra precautionary steps in place to ensure my confort in the space. Dr McKenna explains everything on a level I can understand and the reasons why certain things are needed for my teeth. 5-star service and experience.

Fantastic experience: I am a very nervous dental patient! For the past number of weeks I have been treated by Dr Eithne McKenna. I was made feel very welcome in Ranelagh Village Dental by all staff. Dr Eithne McKenna showed a lot of kindness while treating me. With my work schedule Dr McKenna was extremely flexible with appointments. My fear of going to the dentist was put at ease. Fantastic experience: Recently had a crown fitted on my front tooth with Dr Eithne McKenna and I couldn't be happier with it. I had broken this front tooth as a child and as a result it was alot shorter than my other front tooth. Dr Eithne McKenna's attention to detail is second to none and It's very hard to tell which tooth is the crowned one because she colour matched it perfectly. I received a really fabulous result.

My partner, friend and I have been there and have no complaints. They are non judgemental in a non intimidating environment. Fantastic experience: Dr. Finnerty is god sent. I was so nervous about an extraction (since I have a history of passing out) and he made me extremely comfortable. He was so efficient that I didn't even know when he administered the numbing shot. He didn't try to rush things, and ensured I was comfortable throughout. Apart from that, the front desk staff and others are so patient and polite. Another plus point is that this practice is open till 8 pm, so quite useful. All in all, I highly recommend this practice.

Fantastic experience: When looking for a Dentist in Ranelagh, there are several to choose from. I selected to go with Ranelagh Village Dental and have never looked back. Dr. Eithne McKenna is my Dentist and I find her to be friendly, always pleasant and knows what she is doing. I visit every six months and followed her blunt advice that I needed to brush twice a day and not once and have never looked back. At one stage I needed a root canal and Dr. Dermott Finnerty did that as he does those kinds of procedures. Happily I had no pain - apart from sore jaw muscles from keeping my mouth open for a good part of two hours. I also decided to get teeth whitening about a year ago and a mold of my teeth was duly made. When it came time to use it with the bleach, the instructions Dr. McKenna gave me were fool proof. Excellent results too - people comment on my white teeth sometimes! The practice texts you when you're due an appointment which is handy. The other thing I like is that my appointments almost always commence on time. It drives me crazy when you're scheduled for an appointment and then have to cool your heels for ages. I think out of maybe 10 to 15 appointments here I have been seen late once. I'll forgive that as usually all is well. I plan on keeping my dental work here, so I recommend giving them a try if you're looking for someone to take care of your teeth.

Fantastic experience: This is a wonderful practice in the heart of Ranelagh village.Dr Eithne McKenna takes excellent care of my teeth and I feel that I get the highest standard of dental care and advice in every visit. Dr McKenna always takes the time to explain everything that she is doing and is patient and thorough. I must say I have never felt more comfortable and relaxed at a dentist ! My two children also attend this practice and have described Dr McKenna as the "World's Best Dentist"! That says it all...

Fantastic experience: I have never been the bravest patient [not even close, truth be told]. So when I first arrived in Dr Eithne McKenna’s surgery I was as nervous as a kitten. And now, a few visits later, I behave just like any normal cat, practically falling asleep on the chair. Eithne is calm, kind, considerate and understanding, so if you are of nervous disposition, I cannot recommend this practice highly enough. She is also a perfectionist. I had to get a crown and as I sat having it fitted she looked at the crown in her hand as a jeweler would look at wonderful piece of jewellery they just crafted. It started a conversation about precision and attention to detail in which she told that she works with one crown maker because ‘he knows exactly what I want’. He was so calm and patient and explained everything he was doing step by step. I got my wisdom tooth removed and had no hesitation going back to get a filling, genuinely a lot less pain than anticipated and I am so happy I chose to go here

Fantastic experience: Best dentist ever! Thorough, great service, flexible, quick. I’ve had a soft splint, and my teeth checked. I also got a filling after attending Dublin dental hospital, and they said, “You don’t need one now. Maybe in a year.” This dentist took the time to look at the tooth, and recommend a free filling now to stop food getting stuck as it would eventually turn into a bigger problem. He took an initial mould of my splint, took one look at it, and took another one ‘for a better splint’. We had a discussion about me biting through my previous splint, and how uncomfortable it was and he recommended the hard top splint. He was very patient, knowledgable and detailed. The staff were also brilliant. The office itself is very calm, comfortable, and clean. I really couldn’t recommend anyone better.

Fantastic experience: Dr McKenna is highly professional and skilled at her craft. She was able to give me my dream smile which I never thought was possible! She always took the time to listen to my questions and to take into account my preferences. I felt really comfortable in her surgery and she was flexible to fit my appointments into my schedule. I could not recommend her enough, you really will be in great hands!

Fantastic experience: I have been to my fair share of dentists and with Dr Finnerty, I am never nervous about attending, as he has the gentlest touch and is never rough, it is the most easiest experience and I can be sure that I can relax in the chair something which is very unusual in a dentistry experience. I opt sometimes to not get an injection for a filling as that has been the worst part of the experience for me in the past and when I say I dont want the injection, he doesn't baulk at the request which other dentists have done, so I come out painfree and with none of that awful numbness that does on for hours (I know this would not be for everyone). Highly recommend him if you are nervous about going to the dentist usually and would like to be able to have an enjoyable experience at the dentist. Another caveat is that all his assistants are very nice and I always judge a dentist by how they speak to and treat their assistants. He is always very courteous and respectful to them and always acts and speaks to them in a kind and egalitarian manner. Another measure of the man and his professionalism.

Fantastic experience: Had numbers of procedures with Doctor Finnerty over the years and always been pleasant and professional experience. Had wisdom tooth removed last week and it was completely painless and did not have to take so much as a Panadol after. Would always recommend.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely fantastic dentist and service. I had a work place incident and knocked an existing crown out of my mouth, I was seen to that morning, I then decided to have my front four teeth done. I was blown away by the result and how natural they look. Usually I am very anxious and nervous when it comes to dentistry but I was put at ease and catered for in every way possible. Would highly recommend!

Negative experience: Booked in for a standard exam and scale and polish. I specifically booked in for this as it was €70 and knew that it could not be mis-interpreted or that I could be charged extra. I had heard of other dental practices adding in costs very casually and not even mentioning these during the appointment so I wanted to avoid that. The checkup began as normal and the dentist said he will need to do a few x-rays to check top and bottom back teeth. It wasn't so much a question as it was being done anyway, but no extra cost was mentioned or flagged, so it seemed to be a part of the exam. I also thought this because other practices offer this as standard as part of a check up. He took three separate x-rays and went through them with me afterwards. I explained another small issue on my gum so he took another look. Nothing too serious. He said I needed two fillings and that we should book them in there and then. I asked about the scale and polish I had booked in for that day and he said he didn't have time as other clients were waiting and that we would get to that next time when doing the new filings. All in all about 15/20 minutes. I then figured okay, at least I'm only paying €50 today for a standard checkup instead of the €70 I had booked in and planned for. I was given a print out of just one of the x-rays at reception and then the dentist told his receptionist/nurse that I had 3 extra x-rays and that would be an extra €75! Then he went back to his surgery office to prep for his next client. Sitting with the receptionist/nurse she told me the total was now €125! I asked why and that I wasn't told this at any stage. The answer was that 'that's the prices and that's what it costs for x-rays.' I told her I understood that but at no stage did anyone relay this information to me, and that I had only booked in for a checkup and scale and polish, and didn't ask for x-rays. Again I was told that that's price and that they needed to be done in order to figure out what was going on with my teeth. I said that I am not comfortable with this, especially an extra €75 that was just put on with no notice or approval. The receptionist/nurse went in to chat about this with Dr.Finnerty for a few minutes. He then came out and explained again that this is what it costs and that everything in a dentist costs money and that he needed to do the x-rays. This was done in quite a patronising and angry manner. I said I understood this but should have been told this beforehand at the least, especially as I had booked in for an exam and scale and polish only. He said he would take the price of one of the x-rays off the total and went straight back to his surgery office. The receptionist/nurse now seemed embarrassed and told me it was €100 total. I said I understood it is not her fault/issue and that this was wrong, but I felt I had no choice but to pay. On my way home from the dentist I looked up their price list and saw that they have an exam and 2 x-rays for €70! Why didn't he mention this when he realised that I wasn't getting a scale and polish and needed x-rays instead? He could have swapped this for the scale and polish and then said that I required one more x-ray and it would cost an extra €25. Instead I didn't get the service I booked and ended up with an extra €75 on my bill. If I had got the scale and polish I'd suddenly be paying €145! I rang the dentist's office from home and explained this and after discussing with Dr. Finnerty the receptionist/nurse called me back to offer a €5 refund and that the prices were outdated on their website but that this was not my fault. I had been booked in for two further appointments this week but after this experience I felt a level of trust was broken that is needed with all medical practitioners, so I have cancelled both and will now be going elsewhere. It's such a shame because I was looking for a new local dentist that I would continue to use in the future.

Fantastic experience: Dr McKenna is a miracle worker. Having suffered a traumatic dental experience I was petrified of dental surgeries. The past six weeks has changed my mind & experience of dentistry. Dr. McKenna's talent, professionalism and manner removed my fear, I had no pain or discomfort and my teeth are strong & healthy. An exceptional dental surgeon and impeccably run practice. I cannot recommend Ranelagh Village Dental more highly.

Fantastic experience: Have just attended for treatment. It was all so prompt, efficient and above all painless. Mr. Finnerty explained what he was doing at all times and I found the process very easy. Music in the background was very relaxing and dental nurse very attentive. This is my third time here and wouldn’t go anywhere else now.

Fantastic experience: Bear with me as I tell of my experience at the local dentist in Ranelagh village. I attended Dr Finnerty last Wednesday and was told, after having a couple of x-rays that my bottom back teeth on my left side were totally decayed. I also had an abscess. He advised that as the roots of those teeth were so deep, he recommended oral surgery at the Dental Hospital. Unfortunately, there was a 4 - 6 month waiting period. He kindly offered to do the removal/surgery instead. I arrived at my appointed time and was taken in immediately. The worst part of any dental procedure for me are the the injections prior to any dental procedure. I don't know how Dr Finnerty managed to administer the first two with little or no discomfort. Then I required the buccal (cheek) injection, which lasted the longest. Again, he manoeuvred my cheek to the point where I expected the worst, but again, a little discomfort for about 2 seconds and the rest was pain free. The extractions took quite a long time as the teeth were badly decayed and the roots put up quite a battle. If there is anyone who has a fear of the dentist, I cannot stress strongly enough to recommend Dr. Finnerty. At this point too, I would like to thank the two dental nurses, Niamh and Emma (I hope I have remembered their names correctly), for their kindness and again, to Dr Finnerty for his gentle and compassionate understanding of my nervousness. Fantastic experience: Very happy with this dental clinic and would unreservedly recommend to anyone considering making an appointment. I have attended with both Dr Mc Kenna and Dr Finnerty for over eighteen years in this same location and find them to be highly professional, caring, keen observers and adept at calming the nerves of their customers. I'm currently a regular customer with Dr Mc Kenna for routine checkups and cleans, however I have completed a wide range of treatments under her supervision. I trust her completely and also really appreciate that she will hold off on potential treatments, looking ahead until the 'time is right'. I have also visited once May 2020 and found the hygiene precautions were exemplary.

Fantastic experience: I first saw Dr. Finnerty at Ranelagh Village Dental 5 or 6 years ago when he performed an extraction that I was very anxious about. He carried out that procedure with great care, skill and professionalism. It was also painless. Since then, I've seen Dr. Finnerty on a number of other occasions, both for routine work like fillings and cleaning, and most recently (early 2019), for a few big jobs that I was also anxious about, including a root canal treatment and the fitting of a crown. On each occasion, the quality of Dr. Finnerty's work, his attention to detail, and his calm, friendly manner were impeccable. His staff and premises are excellent, and the whole thing is about as good an experience as you could hope for at the dentist. Highly recommended, and an easy 5 stars.

Dentists Eithne & Dermott alongside their dental nurses provide both a personable and professional service. From check-ups & cleans through to a root canal, i’ve consistently been impressed and i’ve always been made to feel appreciated for my business and referrals (including some nervous patients). I also appreciate their transparency and unambiguous recommendations; it’s clear patient best interest is what comes first here. Highly recommended!

Negative experience: Terrible dentist. I had to use this man several years ago and he tried to take to me to the cleaners. Recommended a bunch work that “must be done” and was going to cost me several hundred euro. I got a second opinion from another dentists that said she didn’t see anything wrong with my teeth. Shameful.

Fantastic experience: I had such a great experience here today .I had to have a huge filling and I was nervous , I felt absolutely nothing and Dr Finnerty was honestly so kind as was his dental nurse . I also had a clean after which was super to have done . I honestly cannot speak highly enough of my experience today and am thrilled that I have finally found my forever dentist .

Fantastic experience: i recently attended the clinic on two occasions , and was looked after by Dr Finnerty. I have to say I could not be happier with the work he carried out on my teeth . Totaly professional , and very courteous , I felt very much at ease , and comfortable at all times . Fantastic experience: I attended this clinic for a clean as I was groomsman for a wedding. Went to see Dr Finnerty, absolute gentleman and very honest. He had mentioned that the filling that I got many years ago and chipped away and it would need attention. I went back today and the procedure went so smoothly. I felt very relaxed and it was a painless procedure. I plan on attending this clinic again as it is rare to find customer service at this level.

Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend Dr.Finnerty and his practice Ranelagh Village Dental Enough. My husband and I have been Patients of his for the past two years .Dr Finnerty and his Staff are always so helpful and put you at ease.I got a crown on a front tooth last year, that had darkened due to a very old root canal and can't get over the diffence it has made to me and my smile.

Fantastic experience: Excellent service and treatment, I was initially recommended to visit Eithne by a friend as I was having issues with my teeth and I am so glad I did. Eithne is extremely detailed, kind and really knows the type and level of treatment that is needed at any given time. I never doubt her opinion and she has saved me literally my teeth!! Fantastic experience: I am a bit of a 'nervous nellie' patient, with a particular fear of the drill - the noise and the sensation. I made them aware of this before I first attended and they were extremely kind and talked me through the whole procedure, which did reduce my anxiety. Unfortunately, I needed a number of crowns which required a lot of drilling and I had put it off for years but with the care I received at Ranelagh Village Dental, I finally bit the bullet and got them done. Eithne is the dentist who looks after me and she is very aware of the patients body language during procedures and knows when you are getting uncomfortable. Their professionalism and kindness is completely reassuring but the fact that they do early morning and late evening appointments is great because I haven't had to take time off work for any of the treatments. Their record keeping is excellent so when you do return for your annual check up (18 months later !), they know exactly what they need to follow up on and check.

Fantastic experience: Dr McKenna has been our family dentist for almost 30 years. At all times she had been totally professional. With regular check ups and her preventative approach the dental health of our family of six is excellent. We have always followed her guidance and would have no hesitation in recommending her. You will be in safe hands.

Negative experience: I went to this clinic since it was next door. My gum was terribly sore, so I decided I had to see someone who'd treat me, or at least improve the state I was in. I came in hoping for a dental scaling. But not only Dr. MacKenna DID NOT scaled my teeth, she also suggested that if I really wanted my gum fixed, I needed a gum treatment. She added I had a gum disease and needed an hour of gum treatment for both my upper and lower jaw... Which means, she was suggesting me to get a 2-hour treatment... AN HOUR BEING CHARGED 300€ !!! In the end, she pretended she scaled my teeth, charged me 70€ and tried to move on. When I asked her to go a little deeper to clean it properly and decrease the pain, she replied she couldn't go any further without an X-ray. Finally, she gave me antibiotics but DID NOTHING to cure my gum. SO I WAS CHARGED FOR NO TREATMENT BASICALLY. I went to France to be treated and they confirmed that I had NO GUM DISEASE whatsoever. My dentist simply scaled properly my teeth, and around them... and everything went back to normal. There's no need for an overpriced gum treatment whereas I simply had my gum that bled a little at the time. I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND, I HIGHLY DOUBT HER SKILLS AS WELL AS HER GOOD FAITH.
