Fantastic experience: As someone who avoided dentists for years after having bad experiences in the past, I couldn’t recommend Dental excellence Athlone more highly. I’ve had orthodontic work here, regular hygienist visits and today I had my first filling which was quick and totally painless. I was made feel at ease as always by Dr. Shahin Naji who is a master of his trade. 5 star service for me each time.

Negative experience: Very disappointed here. After an annual cleaning and check up appointment I felt I would have been better if I had bought a new toothbrush and my teeth would have been better cleaned. I aLao asked them to check a tooth that was paining. They said it was okay. Six weeks later I ended up at a different dentist who confirmed I needed a filling. I think this company has a very, very long way to go before they reach excellence.

They resolved all of my queries efficiently and compassionately. Would recommend dental excellence to anyone who wants a professional and reassuring service.

Negative experience: Very disappointing. I had consultation with a dentist in October where I needed two crowns to be fitted to root canals. Appointments made for December for prep and January for fitting. I phoned few days before Dec app to see how much I needed to bring with me as they are quite expensive and was told at consultation I wouldn't need to pay in full at the first app. I was told there was no app for me in December. She said she would investigate and come back to me, still waiting, 6 weeks later. Will give my money to a private local dentist.. they don't care about customer service when no effort to fix their mistake and made it sound like I was imagining the appointment even though I had the consult quote with appointments date and time written by their receptionist. Don't waste your time making an appointment.

Fantastic experience: Excellent service with highly professional staff. My previous dentist took 10 minutes to do a scale and polish. At Dental Excellence it was 40 minutes, followed by a consultation and discussion about my oral health. In a country infamous for bad dental services, it was a refreshing change.

Negative experience: They think there the turkey of Ireland will make you wait long waiting times and when you get a appointment they send you a email 24 hours before the appointment and if you don't answer your email they cancel your appointment a joke of a place no service decency to ring clients when they don't get a response for there ETA. Don’t use this place the receptionist might as well be on there social media’s for the day before they don’t care about there jobs

Negative experience: Got my braces done here last year. Had absolutely no issues until now. I needed to get a new plastic retainer a few months ago as mine broke at home, I had wrapped up the impressions very well and sent them by post to get the retainers, when my impression was sent back by post it was broke in half. I rang to also ask about the other impression to find they broke it while making my new retainer. They said they would cover the impression and retainer for the bottom teeth and took absolutely no responsibility for breaking the top one and were expecting me to pay €115 for a new top impression and €70 for the bottom retainer. Bare in mind I recommended two friends to this dental practice in which one is paying over €3000 for her braces and also recommended to a friend which went and got a consultation for composite bonding here. I rang 3 dental in Galway and they are doing top and bottom impressions and retainers for €120 which is half the price of here. I will not recommend anyone to go here again after this appalling service and taking no accountability for them breaking the impressions. Avoid at all costs.

Fantastic experience: I found the entire experience as comfortable as coming home to an old friend, extraordinary staff care and consideration, very delighted they are my dentist .

Negative experience: My daughter was seen to by the dentist here last week. She is in severe pain with one of her teeth. The dentist gave her a prescription. The medication she was percribed did not work. She had to visit MIDOC twice over the weekend. She was given morphine to releave the pain it was that severe. She called today to see if there was any way the dentist could see her in an emergency. I also called and explained this was an emergency. Told no appointment available not even for a girl suffering in severe pain! Dentists are duty bound like doctors to care for people in emergency! Neither my self or my extended family will be using this dental practice ever again! Absolutely Disgraceful! I will also be making a formal complaint to the Dentistry Board of Ireland!

Negative experience: Went to Dental Excellence today had a filling done 2yrs ago maybe a year and a half went into the surgery yesterday and told receptionist that half the filling had crumbled away the response I got was we don't do emergency and the nearest appointment I could have is the 20th o July I will never deal with that business again and charged for the service

Negative experience: Very rushed job on braces. No proper information from the orthodontist on what he was doing at each appointment. Braces came off and I wasn’t happy with the result after paying a few grand. To be then told I’d need to pay an extra few hundred for composite bonding and to make an appointment at the desk to then go up and be told there’s a year waiting list! Bare in mind From the beginning of this journey not once was this told to me! When I went to collect retainers had no guidance on how long I should be wearing them / hygiene for cleaning the retainers. Cement was also left on my teeth I rang about this a day later to be told I couldn’t be fitted in for this to be removed!! Will never return here waste of money and time my teeth don’t look any different from the starting point and still are not straight. The bottom line is they aren’t that’s excellent!!

Fantastic experience: A great experience. I got an appointment at short notice. The dentist clearly and patiently explained everything that I needed to know about my problem and I have received a follow up appointment in a short period of time.

Negative experience: I made an appointment for extraction of a tooth I knew could not be saved, telling them that this was the sole reason for my visit. I arrived and was seated in the dentist's chair, only to be advised that he "didn't have enough time" to extract the tooth, as it might have to come out in 2 or 3 parts, and that I would have to return for *another* appointment -- which "might take 2 or 3 months" as their appointment book was "full". They offered to put me on their cancellation list, but I never received a call from them again. So, the appointment I arranged was a complete waste of time and money for me. To add insult to injury, they charged me an additional fee for PPE (personal protective equipment), only for the dentist to treat me with his own mask hanging below his nose, making it utterly useless from the point of view of protecting me. I subsequently went to Boland Dentistry and had the entire tooth out in 10 minutes flat. I will never use Dental "Excellence" again, and cannot recommend them to anyone based on my experience there. Go elsewhere!

Fantastic experience: It’s never easy to splash out a lot of money on teeth, let’s be honest, but in this instance it was certainly worthwhile and painless! I admire the skill required to insert an implant in general but to do so with such care, patience and understanding is very impressive. I’d highly recommend David, here in Athlone, and look forward to returning for a second one in the next year or so.
