Fantastic experience: On a recent visit to Grand Canal Dental for some fillings I voiced my anxiety and embarrassment over a strong gag reflex. The team were extremely supportive and did everything they could to put me at ease and to make it clear that I was not a burden. I really appreciated how their patients comfort was their highest priority and would recommend anyone with Dental anxiety to give them a try. Merry Christmas and best wishes for 2025 to Dr Tarpey and everyone at Grand Canal Dental.

Negative experience: Very bad experience. The receptionist is dismissive and cold, and the dentist speaks at you which tires you out, without much scope for asking questions about your ailment. Would not recommend.

Fantastic experience: My dentist for years and still happy. Dr. Tarpey and his team are very accommodating, friendly and competent. When I once turned up one day too early for my teeth cleaning appointment and the technician was out, Dr. Tarpey himself jumped in and did the clean so I did not have to come back in to town again. Great example of customer service.

Positive experience: James has a lovely manner puts you right at ease .I wouldn't be a fan of the dentist over past experiences.James is lovely explains everything and really makes you feel at ease .Decent prices too and very professional. Lovely receptionist aswell very warm and friendly .Highly recommend

Positive experience: I have mixed feelings about my visit here. From the first phone call with the receptionist, she didn't seem to listen and kept interrupting me. When I got to the clinic today I got to meet her and the same feeling. The interaction with the dentist himself was uncomfortable. It also felt rushed, I had questions which I didn't have the time to ask. The hygienist seemed meticulous and the cleaning was okay. All in all there wasn't something specifically wrong with how they took care of my teeth, but the overall experience was not something I'd repeat. The vibes were just not it.

Negative experience: I hesitated for a long time before writing this review but must say this was the strangest dentist my wife and I have ever attended. Though competent, the dentist was extremely lecturing and pressured my wife (like my other patients report) into getting an unnecessary and overly expensive mouth guard. Absolutely ridiculous, the dentist insisted very much on buying this guard and in my opinion misused his position of power and knowledge in this instance. My experience was similar. For these reasons, I would encourage anyone to seek another dentist.

Fantastic experience: I am really pleased with the work performed by James, always explaining and showing to me what he has done and will do. I have no idea about dentistry so I can't speak from a professional point of view, but I've seen the before/after and feel that my mouth is a lot better than before, having done extractions and fillings. Recommended going if you have anything to get done.

Fantastic experience: James is a great dentist. I have had many different dentists over the years in Turkey, France, the US and he is really the best one! I received excellent treatments from him such as fillings and root canals. Mouth guard I got from him is also very good. I highly recommend him. His assistant Siofra is also the sweetest and gives useful recommendations.

Fantastic experience: Nobody likes going to the dentist and I'm no different but James and the team put you at ease. They are so knowledgeable and professional that after a visit I always feel I've been well looked after and given the correct advice for my oral health. I highly recommend Grand Canal Dental Clinic.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Tarpey was absolutely great since the minute i've stepped into the clinic. I was having trouble with a decaying molar and two previous dentists had suggested a root canal without blinking an eye; he took a different approach, explaining me his theory and they way he wanted to proceed. He was very clear and detailed and he decided to try to save the tooth with a white filling instead of going straight to root canal. The procedure was absolutely fast and painless and my tooth was perfectly cleaned out and reconstructed. I also want to mention the great and helpful stuff that quickly booked me in, and the way all the costs were well explained and estimated, with no surprises. I've definitely found my dental clinic in Dublin. Definitely recommended.

Fantastic experience: Lisa is such a talented dentist! For 15 years I put off going to any dentist due to a number of bad experiences. Last year however Lisa was reccomended to me and I haven't looked back since. She has truly converted me and I highly reccomend her, especially to anyone like me who has a fear.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic experience throughout, cannot recommend highly enough! I visited the clinic 2 weeks ago with severe pain in my lower jaw, I had a chipped lower left molar that had become infected and made talking, eating, sleeping and even breathing painful! I was presented with the option to extract the tooth but the dentist suggested that a root canal would be best. Having heard horror stories about how painful root canals can be, I was hesitant but after some re-assurance from the dentist (Lisa Boland) and having weighed up the pros and cons, I decided to go ahead with the treatment. I was still very nervous about the procedure, I hate the thought/sight of needles and I had been putting off going to the dentist for years because of a negative experience at another clinic. I went through with the first part of the procedure yesterday and I am pleased to report that all of my nerves, fears and worries were baseless. It lasted just over an hour, there was literally no pain whatsoever, not even from the numbing injections, I didn't feel a thing! I was so taken aback that when the dentist finished I had to double check that she had actually completed the procedure! It was so non invasive and comfortable throughout that I genuinely thought they had just polished and scaled my teeth and the real work was about to begin! I currently have a temporary filling in and I'm booked in for the second half of the procedure in 2 weeks time. If you are like me and have been putting off going to the dentist because of nerves/fear of needles/bad childhood experiences, you should absolutely try and put these things to the back of your mind because my whole experience at Grand Canal Dental was nothing like the picture of dentist visits I had built up in my mind and it has only left me regretting that I didn't face my fears sooner! Again, I can't recommend the clinic enough. Great people, professional service and very well priced.

Fantastic experience: I had an excellent recent experience visiting the clinic, with Lisa as my dentist. I was really impressed at the overall service she provided, and found her and her assistant Siofra to be super friendly and helpful throughout the appointment! I'm happy to say I've now found a permanent dentist after years and trialling others, and would happily recommend them to anyone. Thanks guys for all your help!!

Positive experience: They keep their tools on the clients chest, close to the throat. As the dentist is using them, he drops them back on to your chest like it's a table, unaware of how tough that is, it hurts! He's good at his job but it comes across a bit aggressive and intimidating even for the nurses from what I can see when im there.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Boland is the perfect dentist for the nervous patient! The relaxed atmosphere put me immediately at ease. I was so impressed at her great efforts made to save my tooth which I was told elsewhere was beyond repair. I travelled from outside Dublin but was well worth the effort.Thanks again Dr. Boland for the great care.

Fantastic experience: Great experience in Grand Canal dental. Like most people I would be a bit anxious to visit the dentist but my dentist Lisa put me at ease straight away and really listened to my concerns and explained my treatment options to me. I was especially impressed with Lisa's knowledge of cosmetic dentistry and the non invasive treatment she carried out which made a huge difference to the appearance of my teeth in a single visit. The practice itself is very modern, very clean and has a very peaceful atmosphere!

Fantastic experience: Lisa is my dentist in grand canal dental clinic. Personally I always had a fear of going to any dentist but Lisa makes me feel so comfortable and at ease I have no issues about getting my teeth done anymore since I found her. I recently got clear braces with Lisa and my confidence has grown with my smile. She is super professional, gentle and always does an amazing job. Positive experience: Personal wasn't accurate, the dentist was coughing all the time (to be more correct, was sniffing), overall didn't look professionally. Also, wasn't impressed by quality of teeth cleaning at all.
