Fantastic experience: The staff at Shields are all friendly and knowledgeable. I feel comfortable and taken care of. Everything is clean and well kept. They always consider what we can and can't do in terms of costs and how to work with us. I've read the negative reviews and I can't say I've experienced any negative interactions. I can't speak to the pricing of some treatments since we have dental insurance. Worth the cost.

Negative experience: Absolutely avoid this clinic if you value your health and money. They take your money and do nothing to help and tries to scam in for more 'beauty' treatment. Avoid this place at all cost. I went here with a cracked lower wisdom teeth with pain. Instead of addressing my issue, they charged me for x-ray and then over €200 to take a 3d scan as they said they need to see the 'alignment' of my teeth. Still instead of addressing my broken and painful wisdom teeth, he went on explaining my teeth alignment and bite will need to be fixed first, and said it will cost around €1000 for four sessions to start with. All these were happening while I was explaining my problem is to get this broken tooth resolved, which he said nothing can be done ! I never had the option, but to believe them. After paying over the counter, when I for the last time mentioned about my broken wisdom tooth, the person who was attending me easily pulled out a small fragment of teeth stuck in my gum with no effort and said he took the broken piece for 'free' and didn't even charge it. He knew this and saw this at the first place, and instead of addressing my issue did try to scam me into other treatments. Later I went to a proper dental clinic and the doctor immediately did a surgical extraction of my wisdom tooth, without any drama. That's when I realized this place is a scam with fancy building and stuff. There should be regulations on how these clinics overcharge/mislead people into taking their money.

Fantastic experience: Had my teeth cleaned at shields the other day. I was nervous as I had a new dentist doing the cleaning. But nothing to worry about the new lady was brilliant. I have been coming here for the last number of years and have always had a good experience.

Negative experience: I arrived in pain last week with a tooth abscess . Only given a minute to choose which treatment I wanted eg to save tooth or extract . Couldn’t understand the dentist as he was talking too fast and I was stressed and in pain . Was immediately told I’d have to pay half root canal upfront without being told how much . Felt very stressed from the whole experience . Left with white stuff in my mouth never asked to rinse or told about pain . Disappointing . Manner and patient chair side manner needs improving ,

Negative experience: To be honest i was trying to hold off writing this because i dont want anything to do with them anymore but the level unprofessional was insane in this clinic first off the staff are just straight up rude there are fed up of their jobs and will take it out on you there was probably one girl who would smile at me all the rest just very passive aggressive or condescending i went in for TMJ splint thinking the doctor would help me and so he made me a splint but never took any xrays or legit documentation of my jaw i found alarming it was like he just positioned my jaw on the splint wherever he felt like ?and later i find out after the treatment he had now made my jaw crooked and has worsen my problems and i know i dont want to anymore i kept telling him my jaw felt unbalanced and that my symptoms weren’t real improving and just saying thats your stress or the energy drinks your drinking when i now look in a mirror my whole jaw is going off to one side and looks horrible and this all thanks to him that i was supposed trust €1100 down the drain i can tell you that and then some appointments we had he would charge me for when that was never part of plan and then sometimes he wouldnt and make you be grafteful that he didnt charge you even he was doingggg nothingggg but taking all my hard earned money and i dont have a great job and i was saving up for this which im so much more angry at this situation im just so disappointed businesses can exist and get away with it and the staff being so rude and unapproachable Basically just go to another PROFESSIONAL practice that will look after you and not make you empty your wallet for them.

Negative experience: Avoid This Clinic – Unprofessional and Unfair Policies! If you need a reliable and patient-focused dentist, go elsewhere. I booked an emergency appointment for my wife just 90 minutes in advance and paid €60 upfront. While rushing to get there, I got stuck in traffic and was running 10 minutes late—but before I even arrived, they called me to cancel my appointment and still kept my money. For an emergency appointment, this level of rigidity and lack of compassion is shocking. I understand the importance of punctuality, but they showed zero flexibility or care for a patient in need. Keeping my payment while refusing to provide the service feels completely unfair. I would strongly recommend finding a clinic that actually prioritizes patient care.

Positive experience: My daughter recently completed her orthodontic treatment here, and while there were aspects of the process that could have been improved, we are overall pleased with the results. The journey had its ups and downs, as is common with such a lengthy treatment. However, what truly stood out was the clinic's response when my daughter needed new retainers due to an unfortunate holiday incident. They offered replacements at a very reasonable cost, which was not only unexpected but also greatly appreciated. This gesture has significantly restored my confidence in their care and commitment to their patients.

Fantastic experience: I have an overwhelming fear of dentists from trauma when I was a child, I found shields dental 4 years ago and was hesitant at first but I bit the bullet and went. I have had multiple things done here now from fillings to cleanings, root canals and extractions. Every dentist I’ve had at shields have been unbelievable dentists. From start to finish the care and comfort they offer is next level. The endodontist Fida, the general dentist Natasha, the hygienist and the dentist Raz have all been so welcoming and kind during my teeth journey. From start to finish the moment I walked in the door I have never had a bad interaction or experience, I trust these dentists to forever look after my teeth and I could not recommend it enough. I went from needed gas to sit through an appointment to getting a permanent crown fitted without any, I am still getting work done here and it will forever be my dentist of choice after trying so many before getting something done. The space is so clean and the reception staff are so lovely as well. I have so many good things to say about shields, it’s just an amazing dentist and they really go above and beyond for your care and comfort.

Fantastic experience: 5 stars does not even begin to describe Dr Pierre Karam! If I'm being honest I am giving 5 stars because of Dr Pierre Karam. Every time I interacted with Dr Pierre I left incredibly happy. Oh I must not forget to mention Gillian, Also a pleasure to deal with! Dr Pierre operated twice on me and on one occasion he changed his complete work plan for the day to accommodate me and my treatment due to a situation of my making and not his. He gave me his number and told me after surgery to contact him any time day or night if i was concerned. He takes time to discuss all treatment options in detail leaving no questions unanswered to the point where I have complete trust in him. Dr Pierre listens intently to everything I say and always remembers our previous discussions. This for me is probably the most important point in why I think so highly of him. Since starting my treatment with Dr Pierre we have moved out of the country and I hate the fact that I am unable to complete my treatment with Dr Pierre. I am widely travelled and I can honestly say that I never met a more caring, diligent, professional and simply all round great guy than Dr Pierre Karam. If you have a chance to be under the care of my friend Dr Pierre I recommend you grab it with both hands immediately and you will not be disappointed.

Negative experience: This place is a daylight robbery. Under qualified dentists grossly overcharging and money grabbing. Children’s gas - €250 - has to be paid upfront for a reason. Did absolutely nothing - a complete scam. Knew zero about my child’s MIH condition - I had to inform them. The dentist at our first consultation suggested doing an extraction there and then because he had “marked out an hour for her appointment”, even though I had told him she was on a strong steroid at the time. At the same appointment he tried to tell me without any x ray, that my other child had two cavities right next to each other - and it would cost €500 to fill them - even though I couldn’t see anything. We have been to another dentist since and this was simply not true. To top it off, after my child had an extraction with fake useless gas (the only reason we went there in the first place) we came out to the car park to a clamped car. The car park is a free for all, leaving no spaces for paying customers. I contacted them, they didn’t give one solitary damn after I’d given them over €1200.

Negative experience: I was quoted 1400 euro for 4 extractions and 4 fillings for my ten year old daughter with zero xrays done to confirm. In alarm I sought a second opinion, she had full examination and x-rays and was told at ten her teeth would fall out naturally and there were no cavities. I am a medic myself and could see the perfect pictures and x-rays. I am horrified my small daughter could have been potentially subjected to this amount of pain and discomfort for nothing but monetary gain. The public trust the professional, some people take loans out to do what is best for their child, in this case the advice was 100 pc not indicated.

Negative experience: I had a very positive experience in the past with Shields for a root canal, but I cannot say the same for my last experience with the their orthodontics. When I called to book my appointment, I explained to them that all I needed was a night retainer to prevent my teeth from grinding, as the one I was already using broke. My first booking was on a Saturday, and the consultation was quite brief, due to their lab being closed during the weekend, and the expert recommending me to come in during the week. I did exactly that, and during my appointment this morning, the expert that was meant to take my impressions to provide me with the retainer said he had a think about my problem, and that he did not feel like giving me the retainer I asked for was appropriate, due to teeth grinding requiring a long-term fix. He then proceeded to explain to me the two options available to get fix my problem for good, but both options costed more than €2,000, as opposed to the night retainer costing less than €200. Once I explained that I preferred to proceed with the temporary solution for the time being, and to come back at a later stage to pursue the suggested long-term solutions, due to the significantly more expensive cost, I was once again met with a rejection, based on the fact that he did not feel comfortable providing me with the temporary fix I requested from the start, despite my objections as to what I am then meant to do to prevent teeth grinding until I can afford his proposed solutions. While I respect the professional opinion I was given today, and I agree that a long-term solution is ideal, I feel that my needs today have been totally disregarded, and the fact that today I was not financially ready to afford more than the temporary solution cost was ignored, with the expert preferring to let me walk out of the clinic with nothing to mitigate my issue, rather than understanding my situation and allowing me to get a temporary night retainer.

Fantastic experience: By far the best dental practice I've ever dealt with. If I'm in trouble with a tooth, they can always squeeze me in no matter what time of day or night. The hygienists provide the best cleaning service I've ever experienced. No other dental service in the area measures up to Shields Dental. They are a bit more expensive than other dentists but you get what you pay for - the Quality of Everything you get is Top Drawer.

Positive experience: My root canal treatment went very well on Saturday. It was a 2 hour session which was long but it's over now and I took the anti-inflammatory as directed and nearly one week on and the tooth appears to have healed well. A very professional service from Fida.

Fantastic experience: Robert is a professional dentist, patient and precise. My treatment is almost over and I'm satisfied with results so far. Before Shields dental, I attended to different clinics before but non of them accepted to work on one arch only! But Robert listened to me and worked very well. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: Dr Robert is amazing! I started my Invisalign journey last July and he has been nothing short of a perfectionist. Not to mention he is just a fantastic person to go with it. I’m so happy with everything and I’m nearly finished now - thrilled with my results. I won’t go anywhere else now for anything dental related (coming from someone who is terrified of the dentist, I’m always happy to call in to Shields!)

Negative experience: I arrived at sheilds dental service From the time I was there it was all about price and was very pushy about my appearance regarding my teeth and was trying to push me into another appointment I was there in severe pain and said I needed a root canal treatment which the dentist stated he put me trough a lot of pain I’m in my fifth’s and have never experienced any pain like this it was obvious I was in a lot of pain and all the (dentist) wanted to know what when I was coming back for full crown so he could get a plan in action I would highly ( not recommend) that dentist practice

Fantastic experience: I have been battling with TMJ Dysfunction for years and it wasn't until I came to the Clinic back in February that I finally got to make real progress. At that time I was at the end of the line, suffering from chronic pain for years, almost daily migraine-type symptoms. My severe intense sharp pain attacks as well as sensitivity to light and certain sounds was making life unbearable; it was looking like I wouldn't be able to continue working. Thankfully, a work colleague recommended me to go to see Cormac who gave me a Lucia Jig, a diagnostic device, which gave me instant relief. With this we were confident that a splint and some dental work would fix things. Thankfully, it has and I have been pain free since, I am able to get a good night's sleep, the same light and sounds do not bother me and I certainly do no not miss the migraine symptoms. Fantastic experience: I had apprehensions going in as this was my first time coming to the South Circular Road clinic in Limerick. I found the lobby very appeasing, so much so that I even closed my eyes before called me and might even have dozed off! But what was most amazing was a great positive attitude of everyone there. I felt they took their time to listen to me and what I was saying, actually listened and provided great care. From the receptionist to the dentist to the dentist helper (?), everyone was patient and friendly, accepting, non judgemental… really made a good first impression!!! Fantastic experience: Best Dental experience iv ever had. I’m from the uk and iv been to other dentists in Ireland and the uk. None of them compare to Shields. The kind people who work there go above and beyond to make everyone relaxed. So warm and professional you instantly feel at ease. Iv had several treatments from retainers to internal bleaching and the work iv received has always been amazing. The best work iv had from any other dentists and the inside of the building is beautiful too. It’s so comfortable and pleasant to sit in the waiting room. I had forgotten to mention to one of the dentists that I wear a retainer and after some work on my teeth it didn’t fit anymore (my fault for forgetting to mention that). They booked me in that same morning to shave in the filling and it fits perfectly now. I always feel like they really care about the customers whenever you have any worries they really listen to you and do everything they can to fix it as quickly as they can. Can’t recommend enough

Negative experience: I feel ripped off today after visiting to Shelds dentist. I came in for a single tooth filling and was charged €345 !!! I got a shock as I have not paid such a price with my last dentist who just move out to other city. One white filling €250 Consultation €50 even on website they say Consultation is free . During examination on all tooth the dentist advised that the next visit I had to come in for very small two fillings. With one being €150. So €300 for two very tiny fillings. X ray i paid €45 As I understood the xray was done for a general view but not for one tooth i came . Will I get back ? Certainly not. My mistake was not reading the reviews of this facility. I recommending to everyone ask for price before you sit on the chair .

Negative experience: Last week I had a dental emergency and when I rang to get an appointment I was told they would not be able to see me, I was shown no concern or effort to get me in to a dentist. Very disappointing considering the money I have previously spent on braces in their clinic. I got an appointment immediately with another dentist, I require a root canal and wisdom tooth extraction. I was in significant pain and had a broken tooth with nerve damage. Shields will no longer be getting my business.

Fantastic experience: I had an emergency and was quickly attended to, they even took care to provide a dentist who spoke Portuguese so that the information would be clear to me. I had to have my wisdom teeth removed and the dentist Dimitrios and assistant Maria were excellent, very friendly, they calmed me down and answered all my doubts, in addition to the fact that I had a peaceful post-operative period due to the job well done.

After moving to Ireland it was initially hard to find a good and reliable dentist but this place is super accommodating and provide top-notch service 7 days a week. All the dentist I've met here are really good and I've always left with a positive experience. My Dentist is so amazing so much that I feel safe going in knowing that I'm in the best place to get the job done. Receptionist Rebecca, so lovely to speak to, and gets you appointments so quickly, all the staff make you so welcomed and feel at ease, that you wouldn't even know you at the dentist, to the dentist and nurses ye provide top quality service. Fantastic experience: Due to an abscess in early 2022 I found myself getting an emergency appointment in Shields Dental SCR. I had not been there before. This led to an extraction and a full review which I requested. This then led me on a long journey to finally get the dental work I needed for a long time. Having a full consultation following xrays and exam etc with Cormac was not like any other experience I had with a dentist. I had developed an intense phobia for dentists over the years which kept me away from going! Cormac was different. It was like listening to an engineer/architect describing everything to do with your teeth, how they are constructed and how to correct all my issues which included chronic gum disease, bruxism etc. I decided to trust Dr Cormac and I was right. I started with periodontal treatment with Dr Shruta to treat the gum disease which was advanced. She was amazing. Then followed a long course of treatment with Dr Cormac. His dedication to his profession along with his care, patience, clear explanation of every single thing he was doing has practically removed my phobia and I cannot recommend Dr Cormac and Dr Shruta enough. It was a long road but I now have 6 crowns and I can finally feel confident enough to smile without embarrassment and with 2 dentures my bruxism is gone! No more grinding at night continually damaging my teeth and clenching all the time. My bite has been returned to what it should be and Cormac Shield proved himself to do exactly what he said he would. His professionalism, kindness, care, patience and communication will ensure I never go to any other dentist again. I must also mention the fabulous receptionists, dental technicians and all the staff as they always made me so welcome and helped to remove my dental anxiety. Thanks to all the staff at Shields Dental.

Fantastic experience: I have an overwhelming fear of dentists and as a result I missed so many appointments leading me with a lot of work to be done. I got a filling and a full deep cleaning with full mouth numbing and laughing gas and had an overall amazing experience. The staff and dentists are so kind, calming and know their stuff. Ive been back twice in two weeks which I never thought would be mentally possible for me. I feel less and less nervous each visit no matter the procedure. Positive experience: I am, like so many others, not too keen on Dentist visits but was fortunate enough to find Dentist Fahmy at Shields. He extracted a very troublesome tooth and was the consummate professional. Delighted with the work done.

Fantastic experience: I had put off doing a root canal for months as I was so frightened that it would be painful. I had been assured by my dentist that the procedure would be over before I knew it, and this was very true. It was actually so pain free that I ended up falling asleep half way through the procedure while listening to my podcast. If nervous about a root canal I would highly recommend speaking to your Sheilds dentist to get further information.

Fantastic experience: Dr Beatrice and her team have been incredible in terms of making you feel at ease and explaining a dental plan/ procedures required etc. I don’t think I’ve ever been as relaxed at a dentist before. Had a review with Dr Shruta again another exceptionally nice and calming professional that spent time reviewing my plan and explaining everything to the finest detail. Shields is a clinic that have the patient first and former in mind. From the receptionists on the front desk to all members met on my experience. Super and highly recommended!

Positive experience: I went for an emergency appointment to fix an implant, I then asked for a simple cleaning and filling work, the dentist there, saw money trees wouldn't listen to what I wanted and started harping on about how I'd need a root canal and this that and the other and then got vexed and told me I wasn't listening to him, if he had just taken a step back listened to what I wanted theyd still have me as patient. The work that was done I can't fault, the charge expensive but I guess thats what you get for living in one of the most expensive countries in Europe.

Fantastic experience: I had my first treatment today in Shiels Dental, Castletroy Shopping Centre. Cathy the hygienist is superb. She spent so much time preparing me for my treatment and explained the type of care I needed for my teeth, absolutely no pain whatsoever. The only discomfort was keeping my mouth open. I highly recommend this dental practice to everyone. My next appointments are booked based on the experience I had today. Top Marks

Negative experience: Me and my family have been with Shields clinic for a few years. We are happy with the overall experience so far but recently I was unfairly charged for a check up visit. I was said that the visit is free of charge and is included in my rooth canale treatment plan. I tried to explain the situation to the receptionist but they contacted with Dr Ahmed who carried the check up and he decided to charge me anyway. I paid under protest, I think a situation like this is unacceptable.

Fantastic experience: Amazing service, I have got my two wisdom teeth surgically removed by Dr.Pierre, he is a very professional dentist, I didn’t feel any pain after the extraction and the process was smooth and quick. Couldn’t say Thank you enough to Dr. Pierre, highly recommend this clinic!

I've had consultations with other specialists within Shields, they were all so informative but in the end i had Beatrice for composite bonding. I've never felt so comfortable in a dental chair. She done everything she could to put me at ease from the neck pillow to the relaxing music I almost forgot where I was lol.
