Dr. Margaret Tuite Dental: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Have used this dental clinic for the last three years with our two kids. It's a trek to get to for us. But we wouldn't go anywhere else. The kids have never been afraid of going, all of the dentists are great as well as the dental nurses and the reception team. Tha simple things like talking with the kids, having some books and toys in the waiting room, funny teddys in the surgery. And a special mention to the patience and understanding of the dentists on every visit. Definitely recommend if you are looking to bring a kid to a dentist for any work or general check ups.
Fantastic experience: Lovely staff, put our son at ease for his first ever trip to the dentist.
Fantastic experience: I wasn't sure what to think with the negative reviews ahead of bringing out 5 year old for fairly extensive dental work under anesthetic to this practice. I can only speak for our case but I have zero complaints - the care was excellent, they were very empathetic to our nervous child and dealt with that very well, it was obvious the whole team incl. Dr tuite loved what they did and were very competent, genuine and trustworthy. The clinic was well kept and we felt very well looked after. Let's just say based off our experience (which is all I can go by), I'm glad I didn't take the negative reviews too seriously. :)
Negative experience: Before start I would like to say that if this would be a review of staff it would be 5 star review, for being kind and friendly. This was the only clinic willing to see us the next day after calling them and they were nice to us. So with that said, I would like to share our whole experience, so maybe help parents in future with similar issues. And also, this low star is not only for this clinic but for dentistry in Ireland in general. Our 5 year old son got the abscess and terrible pain during the weekend so we went to clinic in our area first thing Monday morning. The dentist there examed him, took an x-ray and told us that decay is in advanced stage and there are other teeth that will need treatment but that we shall find pediatric dental clinic to deal with it. After failing to find anyone in our area (southeast, waiting time 3 months or more) I found Dr.Tuite Dental online. After explaining situation over the phone we got the appointment the very next day. I was thrilled and kept promising to my son that they will help him for sure. This was already Wednesday. So I sent the x-ray over the email with all other details and on Thursday we drove over to them. Dentist who did the assessment was good in doing her job but if that would be normal check up and not the emergency with 5 years old child, finishing antibiotics and being on painkillers for days, that they seemed not to work anymore! After counting his teeth and taking photos with the phone, she decided that another x-ray is needed. After doing it she explained to us what will be needed and that they need up to 3 weeks to arrange treatment plan. That she will put him as a priority but hopefully we will get the treatment date in next month or so. For a child who is in pain! This is not good enough. And that if we want to ease pain for him, painkillers are the only solution. Receipt for this was €200. We decided to fly to our home country asap and this was the best decision. 5 days later, his tooth is sorted, and saved! No need for general anesthetic (!), no need for extracting 2 baby teeth to put retainers which is not only costly but unnecessary. Today I received treatment plan, quite quickly I must say, on over €5,500.00 Only general anesthetic over €1,600.00 I'm not an expert but all of this is mind blowing. I helped my child to ease the pain by going into tooth with sterile needle and let some of the puss out. This is not a recommendation for doing it for sure, but if I was able to do that they surely need to know how to do SOS in emergency. And not to send child home like that. I feel sorry for anyone who has to go through this type of experience and I hope dental care in Ireland will improve and it will improve soon! For now, we learn our lesson. Whatever happened, we will not wait a moment but book our flights. To save time, money, nerves and teeth. Cheers
Fantastic experience: Our 5 year old son tripped, knocked out his first tooth and bent back another front one. Baby teeth. We were recommended this practice. Our son was understandably wary, tired and apprehensive. I cannot express how absolutely fantastic Dr Roisin was. Calm, focused and skilled both as a practitioner and as human working with a very nervous child (and shattered parent). She worked with our kiddo to fully examine him, talk through the whole/what/why and talked through options. Herself and Dr Tuite removed them under sedation the following day. An unpleasant procedure, but the care and speed at which they performed the extraction must be commended. Thank you.
Fantastic experience: I can’t say enough about this dental practice. My 2 year old son was refereed to a different dentist with a 12 week wait list. Luckily Dr Tuite and team received my referral and with 2 days Ami received a consultation and surgery for my son. Everything about the experience was easy and supportive. They made a very stressful situation, safe. Thank you
Negative experience: Unfortunately I feel I have to leave a review so as to help parents make the right choice. My 9yr old son was referred to Tuite dental by Seapoint dental with a broken baby tooth. Dr Tuite was sent an x-ray and a full breakdown of all teeth counted and what the issue was. I waited over 3 weeks for an appointment before calling and eventually getting one a week later. The consultation cost €150 and another x-ray €25. I then got the treatment plan for James emailed. €180 for tooth extraction and €160 for additional support ( a prescription for valium emailed to my pharmacy). After getting over the shock of additional support costing €160 I called the HSE dental care in Dun Laoghaire. I was given an appointment the following day and James had his tooth taken out by Dr Kelly. It was the most professional and friendly experience we could of asked for. James wants to go back and see Dr Kelly asap.
Fantastic experience: Dr Tuite and the whole team at the clinic are wonderful with my non verbal autistic daughter. Each time we have been there we have received very professional and friendly service. We travel from North Dublin to see Dr Tuite as we feel she is the best for our daughter.
Fantastic experience: Very good experience with my son in the clinic today. Recomended.
Fantastic experience: My almost 4 yo son had major procedure done. I can't complain at all. Very attentive. The staff is very understanding and helpful. Anesthesiologist also did great job with GA as my son 3h after waking up is dancing around. Few years after still grateful. Very greatfull!
Fantastic experience: Our experience with Dr Tuite was very positive. She has an excellent manner with children. Very grateful to have gotten our procedure done quickly and efficiently. The bonus with Dr Tuite is that she has her own sedation centre. The other dentists are dependent on private hospital lists, which equals delays.
Fantastic experience: Our daughter was referred to Dr Margaret Tuite for surgery after suffering major trauma to her teeth. Cannot praise her and her team enough. Dr Margaret did amazing work on Chloe's teeth and continues. Always so nice putting our daughter completely at ease
Fantastic experience: My dentist recommended Dr Tuite for my child. Excellent practice for kids with additional needs. Very flexible and accommodating. The space is warm and inviting, there are fidget toys, sensory lamps, etc. My child had a general anaesthetic for dental procedure. They were incredible from start to finish. They thought of everything and they were kind and gentle. Really impressed.
Negative experience: Had an appointment for 3 y o, no more than 10 minutes, a little bit fluoride on the top, paid 270 euros! I feel like I was robbed, crazy prices
Fantastic experience: I really liked the service, from the reception to the doctors. They are great.
Fantastic experience: My daughter needed crowns on her teeth and was so nervous but Dr tuite was amazing with her, so calm and professional my daughter actually enjoyed the experience and is looking forward to her next appointment.. highly recommend ms tuite and her staff especially for children that are nervous...
Negative experience: I have read the mixed comments here and have been debating leaving one myself but the the correspondence I received today brings me here. We ended up with this practice as our 6 yo needed urgent dental care. Firstly, know that you won't be seeing Ms Tuite but low-tenured practitioners. They cannot see you over the weekends or after 2:30 so you must take your kid out of school to attend this pediatric practice (!?) We were sent a EUR3400 treatment plan without any explanation. Our questions regarding the plan were only answered through an email only when they found an appointment date. We still went ahead with this operation and the only follow up was an automated text message the next day asking how our kid is and when we replied we received no response. We have dental insurance and when I submitted the invoice for claim, I saw that every line item was priced above what insurance allows. I don't mind paying more for care but I'm left thinking the care we received as was way below average. Lastly, each correspondence we received felt condescending and presumptuous. The one after our first visit read "Glad your child's tooth is better... " How did they know? The one I received today read "As discussed before...." when I didn't have a conversation. The operation went well and our daughter is fine but I'll look for another practice for her continued treatment.
Fantastic experience: A heartfelt thanks to Doctor Tuite and Doctor Mislovic and all the staff at the sedation center who looked after and treated my very anxious daughter recently. The center is a calm and friendly environment staffed by very caring and patient professionals.
Fantastic experience: Our 11 year old daughter had a wonderful experience with Dr. Margaret Tuite and her team. The care shown by each member of the practice was excellent, they showed great patience and were extremely considerate to our daughters questions and anxiousness. Having to require a general anaesthetic procedure and how it was managed accordingly due to the expertise of the entire team the experience for our daughter was a great success. Thank you Margaret for speaking to us before and following the procedure. We rate the business with high esteem. Thank you to each and every professional we met, we are all so thankful for the service and after service we received.
Fantastic experience: My son had to have an extraction under general sedation as he is a very nervous child with previous dentists. But from the first time he attended Dr Tuite's surgery, he felt very comfortable and co-operative. Dr Tuite is absolutely excellent and she and her team have such a brilliant way with dealing a nervous child. The level of care is excellent, very efficient and so child centered. Thank you so much as I have a happier son now following his procedure. Also thank you to the lovely Haley who answered any queries I had with such warmth and friendliness. Very highly recommended!,
Fantastic experience: My 5 year old son was referred by our own dentist to Dr Tuite as he had an abcess on his tooth that required extraction, he was referred to Dr Tuite to have it done under General anaesthetic as he is very nervous of dentists. We had an initial assessment with Dr Kate Ferron and she was lovely, spoke to my son and put him at ease. We then got an appointment 2 weeks later for General anaesthetic with Dr Tuite. When we arrived my son was extremely nervous but all the nurses were very nice to him, chatted with him about his favourite pokemon etc. He had a hard time with getting the General anaesthetic but Dr Tuite and the rest of the team were lovely and very patient with him and also me. He had the work done while asleep and then moved to recovery where we were able to be with him until he came around, there was no rushing and they kept a close eye on him before we got the ok to go home. Even recieved a text from Dr Tuite today to see how he was doing after the surgery. All in all they done their very best to look after him and make sure he was OK and I'm very grateful for it. Would highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: We brought our one and a half year old to Margaret Tuite Dental for an emergency examination today 4th of Jan. Our little girl had a horrible accident which pushed her 2 front teeth right back. The dentists examined and it was clear that the 2 teeth needed to be extracted straight away today. You can imagine with a 1 & 1/2 year old that this wasn’t going to be the easiest job or a nice experience for my daughter, us or the dentists. However while it wasn’t nice having to do it, the process was made better by Margaret and her team with their professionalism and their calmness while getting what had to be done quickly and efficiently. We are so grateful for how quickly they attended and how well they looked after our daughter providing instant relief . Highly recommended and thank you to you and your team.
Fantastic experience: People don't realise how difficult treating children are. My thanks to Dr Tuite and her people for looking after my 6 year old nephew and helping him resolve his broken tooth.
Negative experience: The emphasis here is on quantity of patients treated rather than quality of care. Like others have shared despite being a paediatric practice there seems to be a distinct lack of child friendliness, very little patience with my five year old child who multiple visits after an accident. After 125 euro consultation that took only 7 minutes including an x-ray I was appalled to be told by the dentist my son needs to cooperate quicker or I would be charged more. As a child focused practice it can do better, a lot better! If you have a choice I would try elsewhere first. I think the response below speaks volumes to the attitude.
Fantastic experience: Very professional staff .. knew exactly what they were doing .. could not praise them enough.. very happy!! Excellent service for children
Positive experience: Dr Kate Ferron is a good dentist. Pity she works in a practice that charges too much.
Helen,
Thank you for your review. We pride ourselves on providing the highest standard of dental care for children.
Our fees are similar to other specialist paediatric providers and available on our website.
Our reception is always available to discuss the likely fees for appointments in advance of attendance.
Yours,
Dr Jarlath Mc Donnell
Fantastic experience: The service was great and timely. Thank you so much!
Negative experience: They have many dentists that you may not be seen by Margaret as you expected. Unreasonable charge if you missed your appointment. Not recommend!
Dear parent,
We pride our practice on providing excellent paediatric dental care. Dr Tuite is our specialist paediatric dentist and sees patients in need of treatment and with additional needs.
Our team dentists support Dr Tuite by carrying out assessments, maintenance, and simple treatments. They liaise closely with Dr Tuite and our orthodontists for all patients to ensure our high standards of care. Details of which dentist will be seeing your child are clearly visible in the reminder emails sent in advance of appointments.
We have a charge for uncancelled missed appointments. Appointments that are cancelled more than 24 hours in advance are not subject to this fee. Appointments missed for medical reasons are also exempt, though medical certification may be required. We implemented this policy to ensure that we could see as many children in need as possible, as an appointment missed is one that could go to another child in need. We would note that the vast majority of our patients have no issue with this and attend their appointments as scheduled.
Yours sincerely,
Dr Jarlath Mc Donnell
Negative experience: We are very disappointed with the service. Not only the poor attitude and the fees, but also the toothpaste they sold together with the electric toothbrush which is not for children under 16!We should always check the review before making the appointment.
Fantastic experience: Cannot recommended highly enough, Dr. Tuite and her staff were thoughtful, considerate and professional. We even messed up our appointment times and were accommodated. Brilliant service for nervous children
Dear Nicola,
Thank you for taking the time to send your appreciation.
We were all so delighted that your lovely lady made such progress today. She embracing and conquering her greatest fears all while having some fairly complex treatments completed with Local Anaesthetic.
I hope she is really proud of her achievement today and that this is the turning point for her in relation to her future dental and medical care.
Again thank you for your thoughtfulness and well done to the star patient.
Dr M Tuite and Practice Team
Negative experience: My current dentist made a referral for Margaret Tuite before lockdown in 2019. How recieved our first appointment was a text with times and fee. No location, no name. Poor communication. I phoned to enquire who and what the appointment was for. In hindsight this was very telling. I felt we were in a cattle market when we arrived. I found Margaret herself to be cold and distant. She rushed through the checkup visit and brought me into a room to let me know the bill would be €2,500. I was taken aback as I wasn't expecting this. It was a removal of a tooth and some fillings. And a fissure sealant. She tried to convince us that he needed to a general anesthetic for the work. I have since found a lovely dental practice who have carried out the same work for €800 with gas. They spread it over a few sessions to make it easier. I also mentioned it to my dentist who made the referral as I felt so strongly about my experience. Very impersonal and clinical with no human side tonher practice.
Negative experience: I brought my then 6 year old daughter to see Margaret Tuite. She had been diagnosed with Molar Incisor Hypermineralisation by our local dentist. Our dentist referred us to Margaret. As a result of the issue with her teeth our daughter developed a fear of going to the dentist. We waited 5 months for an appointment with Margaret, but we were happy that we would be in safe hands given the good reviews and recommendations. I phoned ahead of time to explain my daughters fear. The staff were really accommodating and helpful. On the morning of the visit again the staff were very welcoming and helped manager her fear. Unfortunately our experience with Margaret was the opposite. She was very firm with our daughter and dismissed her fear. She forcefully examined her while my daughter cried asking her to stop. I was extremely uncomfortable with the situation to the point that I pulled her hand out of her mouth. I have no doubt that Margaret is an excellent dentist but I was so disappointed at her lack of compassion for my daughters fear. This was a year ago and we have since found an amazing dentist and the fear has gone. She simply took the time to get my daughter comfortable, didn't push her and slowly explains what she's going to do on every visit. From my experience I would definitely not recommend Margert for anyone with a fear of dentists.
Fantastic experience: 'Dr H' was amazing with my very scared 5 year old who required a filling. The patience and time she spent with my daughter was absolutely outstanding. I can't praise the service enough. My daughter is actually looking forwardto going back!
Fantastic experience: Dr. Kate Ferron is fantastic. My daughter was terrified of dentists from pervious experiences and Dr. Kate just turned the entire situation around to the point were my daughter is now asking when is she going back as she's looking forward to it ! Could also be the fact the a very friendly receptionist/nurse made a huge deal of her and made sure she got a piece of jewelry to put on when leaving. Great experience
Fantastic experience: Dr Mairtin Brennan took care of my reconstruction work. Amazing results. Would thoroughly recommend the practice and Maiirtin in particular. incredibly friendly staff.
Fantastic experience: We had an amazing journey with Dr Tuite. Our son had a very complicated orthodontic situation along with anxiety about dentists. Our local dentist in Westmeath recommended Dr Tuite as the best person to deal with the situation and he was so right. It's 3 years since his first visit and he now has a wonderful straight smile and told me he would miss going to Dr Tuite regularly! Amazing result both physically and emotionally thanks to the professionalism, compassion, skill and experience of Dr Tuite and her team.
Fantastic experience: Dr Tuite looked after my 9 week old, removing her lip and tongue tie. I can't recommend her highly enough and very grateful I found her.
