Gentle Dental

Negative experience: Unfortunately, I had a very negative experience with this clinic. I was seen for an emergency tooth extraction and, although I was accommodated quickly, the issue was not resolved and I’ve been in severe pain for several days since the procedure. This has seriously impacted my work, as I didn’t receive a medical certificate and had to miss days, which caused problems with my employer. When I asked the dentist for a certificate, I was met with a completely insensitive response: “You pulled out a tooth, you didn’t get a heart transplant, you can go back to work today.” I found this attitude extremely unempathetic. Now I’ll have to seek treatment elsewhere to fix what wasn’t properly handled here. I expected more care and respect for the patient — especially considering I paid an amount that was not affordable.

Negative experience: Been on this dental practice for years . Getting an appointment was very quick, and thanks for that. However, the past three visits I had, I wasn't impressed with the gentleness. The procedure (routine cleaning) was Always hurried up, the discomfort from an instrument pressing your gums? Not a great feeling. Have emailed them once about this, but no changes. I started looking for another dental practice. NB : Just sharing my own experience no other intentions. I do participate Google review and TripAdvisor once in awhile.

Fantastic experience: I attended Gentle Dental this morning and was met by Dr Brian and a member of his staff. Knowing that I had some irreparably loose teeth, I was extremely anxious, as extractions were inevitable. Dr Brian spent time talking me through the process, and advising me on the best course of action for the future. I became very "emotional", and he was extremely reassuring and kind, and the extraction itself was painless. I would just like to thank both Dr Brian and the Dental Nurse for their understanding and compassion when dealing with a very emotional patient. I would not attend any other Dentist.

Positive experience: The three-star rating is based on the fact that the two doctors did put in effort and promised to help me resolve the issue. However, this cannot cover up the overall terrible experience I’ve had at this clinic, especially today. My purpose was to get retainer, but this process has left me completely exhausted. The retainer wasn’t made properly, and I’ve had to visit the clinic four times just to get this done. What frustrated me the most was that after scheduling an appointment last Thursday to have the retainer remade, I showed up on Friday, waited for an hour, and was then told it would be better to come back today (Monday). After returning home on last Friday, I called the clinic, hoping to get a refund, but my request was denied. They assured me that everything would be resolved on this Monday, and if the issue wasn’t resolved, I would receive a full refund when picking up the retainer. I chose to trust them, but today’s experience has left me completely disappointed. When I arrived at the clinic today and finished making the model, the doctor closed the treatment room. At first, I thought it was odd. why close the door? And then the doctor came over with his phone and began to question me. He asked whether I had recorded and shared my experience at the clinic online and showed me a screenshot. At first, I didn’t understand what he was referring to because the screenshot was in English, and I had never posted anything on any English social media platform. After he mentioned Chinese social media platforms, and I realized that he was referring to the post I made last Friday on a Chinese platform about my experience at this clinic. The doctor then questioned me about why I had shared these details, claiming it was unfair to him and made him unhappy. He even said that I could choose not to come to this clinic and suggested I go back to China or to the UK for treatment. I found these remarks extremely disrespectful. I have the right to choose where I receive treatment, and I also have the right to share my experience online within legal limits. These are my basic rights. The doctor repeatedly mentioned that he had "been practicing for many years, treated many people, and had never encountered this kind of situation before." Such a statement is meaningless to me. I don’t care how many years of treatment experience you have or how many patients you have treated. I only care about my own experience and feelings and my money. I simply want to get the service I paid for and a satisfactory result, nothing more. If you can’t give me a good result, it doesn’t matter to me if you’ve been a doctor for 100 years or treated billions of patients. Additionally, where I choose to receive treatment is my freedom and my right—you have no authority to suggest I go back to China or the UK for treatment. I originally had no intention of sharing this experience on any English social media platform. My initial purpose for posting on a Chinese platform was simply to seek advice from others with similar experiences and to learn how to protect my rights if the issue remained unresolved. However, today’s encounter made me feel extremely uncomfortable. The act of closing the door and questioning me gave me the impression of being interrogated, as if I were a criminal being held for questioning. This experience has left me feeling deeply uneasy, and I’ve decided to share my experience here. Although the doctor eventually said that I could come back in March and pay extra if I was satisfied, I’ve decided that I will no longer spend any time or money here. My time is very limited during this holiday, and I do not want to accept a product or service from a clinic like this now. It is extremely unfortunate that the last day of my holiday was ruined by this experience. I will seek out another professional doctor to make my retainer. Shengxia Liu 2025.1.13

Fantastic experience: I went there today for the first time ,I was very happy with them , I was pretty nervous going , I was put at ease very fast, got cleaning and polishing done and I did not feel a thing gently dentist they sure are

Fantastic experience: Had my first dental appointment ever sometime back and been coming back ever since thanks to Dr. Brian and his colleagues couldn’t have been more accommodating. Appointment process is also nice, they seem to be one of the only dental clinic in Cork city who at least respond to emails!

Fantastic experience: I was so impressed with the service here. I had tooth decay and it was aching and I wanted to get it extracted. I was looking for an appointment all over the city and no one was available. I rang here and they scheduled me in and extracted the tooth on the day. Everything was so quick and not painful. I highly recommend this place to everyone.

Fantastic experience: I was with Brian in ‘Gentle Dental’ this morning and it’s been a while since I’ve been to a dentist and believe me I was very nervous but I found Brian and his dental assistant great .. he was very easy to talk to and it was a great service, .. Brian checked all my teeth out and I was told I need to return again for another appointment which I will do , happily.. I was in and out very fast, and what I needed done was done perfectly. I highly recommend Brian at ‘Gentle Dental’

Fantastic experience: i phoned gentle dental on hawks road at 11.00AM and told them my mum could not sleep with the pain she was in ,they went above and beyond there call of duty ,told me to bring her up within an hour not only that she phoned a taxi to bring my mother home when the taxi didnt arrive soon enough ,they dropped my mum home to her door , Thank you for taking care for my mother at such short notice , thats the way you take care of people top marks ,thank you

Fantastic experience: Hate the dentist. My first extraction with a different dentist was a nightmare. My second 8 years later, also with a different dentist, was initially brutal and unsuccessful due to pain. So I figured I had nothing to lose trying a different dentist. I tried Gentle Dental. John was very understanding and tried to see me as soon as possible. The procedure itself was completed in 15 or so minutes. Everything was thoroughly explained to me beforehand and during. Not only was it a mere "simple" extraction for John, it was painless for me, especially by comparison to my previous experiences. I honestly had not thought dentistry, could be so painless and easy before this experience. Would absolutely recommend to friends and already have in several instances.

Fantastic experience: I am a horror patient, so scared and just hate to go, Gentle Dental is the best I have ever seen, still do not like to go, but that isn't their fault. I also brought my son when he was 10 and they were so nice, nothing was done before it was explained to him, he luckily doesn't have the same feelings that I have and hope it will never happen to him. Fantastic experience: Excellent customer sevice and John the dentist I found to be extremely precise and gentle with the work I had carried out. They went above and beyond after I needed to have filing material used after getting my orthodontics removed to have the remaining gaps closed. Hailey even went to to the bother of driving my moulds for my retainer over to the university so I would have it back that very day. Thank you so much and I would give ye extra stars if I could.
