Fantastic experience: Hi as a 57 year old who had lived with a chipped and protruding front tooth and subsequent crooked front teeth I visited John at Rathfarnham Orthondontics just over 20 months ago now.It was one of those things I always meant to get around too but never did.So when I eventually plucked up the courage to go I was so netvous and conscious of my age.I needn't have worried.John put my mind totally at rest and said of course I could be sorted.I had my brace fitted and over the next 18 months was treated with the utmost care and professionalism at each visit,and all the staff are so kind and supportive.Now with my brace off I am just so delighted with the result and I can confidently smile at everyone!!With a million thanks to John for his patience kindness and wonderful work.It means so much and is a clear reminder that it is never too late to make changes in your life whatever your age.John and Rathfarnham Orthodontics are faultless.Fil Mcgrath.

Fantastic experience: As a prior complete dental phobic adult ( now coverted!) I can't recommend Dr John Linnane's practice more highly. I have recently completed a 2 year treatment course of braces and am delighted with the end result. From my initial consultation with John I felt immediately at ease, he and all the team are excellent at their job, friendly, calm and reassuring. I would have no hesitation in recommending, in particular to other adults like myself who have put off the idea of orthodontics for far too long.

Negative experience: Would not recommend this orthodontic surgery. Please read. In my opinion overall the surgery was a 1 star. Regarding a few of the following reasons. I found booking my appointments very difficult. In my opinion there was a lot going on in the background during each appointment which I personally found very unpleasant as a patient. The day my braces were removed for me was a very disappointing day. I was really unhappy with the result & for me personally the procedure was very painful. As a patient I felt I wasn’t listened to. When expressing my concerns I felt I was cut off & talked over in my opinion (leading to a very unpleasant experience) Every appointment for me felt like there was a lot of excuses made & appointments felt very rushed in my opinion. As a patient for me personally the standard was not 5 star. Had my braces on for 3 years & I was very disappointed with the results. This review is based on my own opinion & personal experience as a patient.

Fantastic experience: 10/10 for John Linnane and the entire team. Previously had worked up the courage to do something so went to one of the big clinics, could not be a greater contrast to the impersonal "get them in, get them out fast" where you knew you were just a number. I felt valued, important and listened to in Rathfarnham Orthodontics from the beginning, from greeting I got when I walked in the door from the nurses through the initial consultation with John. It was unhurried, he walked through photos of similar cases to me and what was possible and what was not; I immediately knew I was in the right place. Wearing braces in my 50s wasn't fun and took longer than I hoped but absolutely delighted with results and only wish I had the courage and found John and the team years ago.

Fantastic experience: Cannot recommend Dr John Linnane highly enough. As an adult with a complex case, I was embarrassed by my bottom teeth so had delayed doing anything about them for years. However, after what felt like a very quick and easy 18-month journey, I have just had my braces removed and am thrilled with my now perfectly aligned teeth. I never dreaded an appointment, as the entire team at Rathfarnham Orthodontics always made me feel welcome, at ease, and in good hands. This is in stark contrast to a previous franchise clinic I visited for an initial consultation where the doctor told me I needed jaw surgery before I had even sat down. This is a patient-focused, expertise-led orthodontics clinic, so you don't have to worry about a sales push.

I still have hard time believing how John transformed the unrecognisable “before picture of my teeth” into a perfect smile. Fantastic experience: Couldn't speak more highly of John and his team. Before visiting them I was always very self-conscious about gaps between my top teeth. Had been putting off doing anything about it and was dreading the discomfort associated with braces. Finally decided get some treatment in advance of my wedding day (need to look your best in those photos!). Everything went very smoothly and I always looked forward to my appointments. Fantastic experience: It took me until I was 30 to gather the courage after being recommended John by a friend to book a consult to get my teeth fixed. As the call rang out my hands were shaking with fear. The wonderful leonie answered the phone and soon enough the day arrived for my first visit. Unbeknownst to anyone inside It took me 20 minutes to physically get out of the car, the childhood fear, shame and embarrassment had paralysed me and I was sure John was going to recoil in horror when he seen my overcrowded twisted teeth that I had mastered the art of hiding whenever I spoke. Admitting defeat I started my car to drive away and as I started to reverse the door opened and a girl came out with her mother and a mouth full of braces and they seemed completely unphased. A minute later the door buzzed and in I went. There to greet me with one of the most genuine smiles ever was the lovely leonie who honestly only ever got nicer and nicer. After what seemed like an eternity (a more realistic 3 minutes) I was called in. I walked into that room like I was on death row and going to meet the executioner! saw the dreaded chair and honestly thought I was going to faint. Then I saw John. John is just a genuinely lovely guy with a very relaxed and cool demeanor and the instant he introduced himself I felt more at ease. As I sat in the chair it dawned on me he was going to look at my teeth like REALLY look at my teeth and suddenly I could feel the embarrassment start to grow, I started to frantically search my brain for an excuse so I could leave the second he reacted to the horrorshow that were my teeth. I looked at him through the shades he put on me to protect my eyes from the bright light and I waited for his reaction, I scanned his face! Nothing! he did not blink and suddenly it was all over. I sat there speechless and then he spoke.John told me I had really good strong teeth and that I just obviously needed braces and we were going to put a plan in place, he was completely un phased. In those few sentences John gave me all the hope I needed and I left his clinic excited to go back.... YESTERDAY after nearly 3 years (that did actually fly by) my braces came off. After John's fabulous hygienist whom I discovered was his wife cleaned and polished my teeth without any big discomfort (shes ridiculously good at her job) was finished John came in for the final check and then gave me the mirror for the big reveal. I didn't recognise myself!!!! I felt like Sandra Bullock in that scene from Miss Congeniality when she emerges from the shed after the makeover, in seconds my confidence went from nothing my whole life to through the roof!!! I left Rathfarnham orthodontics a changed woman. John and his team didn't just fix my teeth theyve fixed my life. He has given me a confidence and happiness that all these years were unimaginable for me.Ican't recommend John linane enough! my advice to anyone reading this don't wait any longer book your appointment with John, make the decision today to let him transform your life I promise you it will be worth it.

Fantastic experience: John saw my two toddlers (aged 3 and 2) for a check-up. While they have been to the dentist before, they were still slightly nervous. However, John made them feel welcome and comfortable and they had no problem sitting on the chair and letting him check their teeth. One child in particular with anxiety issues and John was incredibly patient and understanding with her. I cant recommend them highly enough and the kids teeth look fantastic now. Hygienist Isabel alerted me to progressed periodontal disease, performed careful deep cleaning over several sessions always prioritising patient comfort, pain free sessions. Negative experience: Worst desison I have ever made using this "dentist" absolutely runied my teeth in every way came here as a young teenager with all the trust in the world for John as he was such a highly trained ortadontist had my braces on for years with not great improvements was sent for a root canal to help the process as time went on I could feel my teeth getting weaker and weaker I eventually requested the braces come off after 5 years the next day I lost one of my front teeth I then went to a different dentist to have a tooth implanted (which John paid for himself) which took weeks it was the most embarrassing upsetting time of my life for years i could not wait for my braces to come off and in the end I would have been better of not getting them on although John knew there was something not right he choose not to say anything every visit I had I expressed my concern about my tooth been loose and he had an excuse every single time the day my braces came of he put Vaseline on my teeth to try and avoid the tooth falling out in his practice i missed weeks of work because I was missing a front tooth and was to embarrassed to leave the house at 21 and the condition my teeth where left in I'm going to have problems with my teeth for the rest of my life thats if they even last another 10 years i have been left with an awful over bite,gum problems, teeth so weak I can't bite into things I've lost a tooth I have to visit a dentist (who is Excellent) twice a month really would not like to see anybody ever have such a horrible experience as this! I went in thinking I would be confident coming out but he has left me feeling so self conscious about my teeth and not even wanting to smile! So thanks John I hope your proud of your great work I will continue to share my story with Facebook and as many people as I can because after thinking about this and how I was left for work that was paid for and was exspensive and will continue to be exspensive it's just not good enough! I will be writing to the dental board and I will be reporting you!
