Old Bawn Dental Practice

Negative experience: Very rude receptionist , I walked in with my little girl, website says 8.30am opening. I was met by very rude lady who mentioned I should have called, I did and no answer, said they are not open till 9am but i had checked online. Said this to me many times, so rude. I was just about to walk out when she said he will see her. I paid for xray and visit for him to say he doesn't know why her gum is swollen and blue.And bring her back if still the same in 2 weeks.wow!!I walked straight out and brought her to another dentist. Got more answers from them in less than a minute. Awful experience and she's only 6 and was her first time. Never will I go to them again.D6 Dental was so lovely with my 9 yr old I will go there in future.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been in with Dr Fiona twice now and both times she has been so lovely and I’ve been seen so quickly. The first time she gave me advice that worked on mouth ulcers that I’d seen 3 doctors for and not gotten any help with. Would definitely recommend old bawn dental to anyone looking for a new dentist.

Fantastic experience: Old Bawn Dental Practice have done a brilliant job of taking care of my teeth, since my first braces consultation up till my latest routine dental examination and cleaning today.

Negative experience: Had a root canal done by a lady dentist, 8-9 years ago, unfortunately a bit of a file broke in the tooth. Afterwards I had discomfort and was always aware of my tooth in my mouth (not quite pain but could always feel where my root canal had been done) the lady dentist said this was normal and not to worry bout it. Anyhow, we moved away and I had to see another dentist for a different reason, told him about my root canal (treatment history) and was informed I should not feel anything in root canal and sent me to a proper Endodondist. Endodontist was horrified, one of my roots had only been half cleared , a quarter of another was still there and a complete small root had been missed. Had to completely redo my root canal and now it feels like it should’ve (or rather the absence of feeling) when it was done initially.

Fantastic experience: Fiona and Sue are an absolute dream. I had bad trauma from getting tooth extractions and swore I would never be awake for another extraction but fiona and sue were both so calm, understanding, kind and patient. They made the process so easy and put me at ease. I would go back to them in a heartbeat for any dental work and they would be the only dentist I would have 100% trust in

Negative experience: Terribly rude woman working when I brought my son to his appointment. Dental nurse alison , I tried to book follow up appointment and was met with very bad attitude. Avoiding in future will move my family to another in locality. Absurd in 2024

Fantastic experience: I broke two front teeth last week and emailed the surgery for an appointment, they got straight back to me and fit me in on Monday. Dr. Crotty was so nice and did such great work that I will definitely go back and get other work done. The nicest dentist I’ve ever been to. Great with nervous patients. Reasonable prices, too. Great to finally have found a good dentist.

Fantastic experience: A regular client of this dental practice since 2005. I badly broke my two top front teeth as a teenager and always had problems until a friend recommended the practice, and since they sorted them out for me, I've had very little bother. Even after moving to Clare, I still travel up for my regular check-ups and teeth cleaning as I know I can trust the team there. The receptionists are really helpful, and both my dentist and hygienist are top class.

Negative experience: The actually dentist I went to was lovely (female dentist) about a year ago, booked in again for a check up and cancelled with 24 hours notice due to a last minute college interview which as you can imagine is important…. Horrifically rude woman answered to phone with an aggressive tone, had to argue just to reschedule for the week after and was told if I ever cancel again I’ll have to pay a deposit even though it’s only happened once. That being said I will not be attending my appointment next week as I was made feel so uncomfortable by the horrible receptionist, don’t worry, you won’t have to worry about me cancelling ever again✋

Negative experience: I had recently rang the clinic and I asked if I could be booked in for braces tightening, the reception booked me in with no problems even though this is not my regular dentist, I had paid a 50e deposit to secure my appoitment, unfortunally I got covid and could no longer attend my appoitment, i rang the clinic again and they happily gave me my deposit back. Today I rang again to book an appoitment for brace tightening. The phone was answered so rudly and I was spoken to in a way where I felt I was being attacked because she refused to book me in due to this dental practice not being my regualar dentist, I had explained that my brother was in the same situation and there was never an issue and same situation before when I tried to book my first appoitment there was never an issue so I was trying to understand if this was a new rule, instead of answering my question I was being questioned about my families details to get proof that im telling the truth, i got called "dishonest" and the phone was hung up in my face, so when I rang again multiple of times determined to speak to the dentist himself to explain "why is a new customer being talked to this way" she kept hanging up the phone everytime she heard my voice and threatned to call the guards due to my "abbusive behaviour"...well im sorry that I didnt want to be your best friend when the receptionist called me a liar when I explained my situation and for getting upset over how she talked to me... I think soon there wont be any new customers with this behaviour you would nearly have to pay for a smile from the receptionist who was on today, very unproffessional behaviour coming from a dental clinic, wouldnt go back even if I was offered free tightening.

Fantastic experience: What a pleasant visit i had.Was made feel so relaxed.The dentist was very professional as was too her great assistant. Over the moon with the results. I would highly recommend dentist Fiona Crotty to anyone.

Fantastic experience: I have been so insecure of my teeth for years and finally but the bullet and asked Fiona for composite bonding. she was amazing and did the most beautiful job I will be forever grateful to Fiona and Sue for taking such great care of me and now in love with my beautiful pearly whites.

Negative experience: Paid €40 for a consultation on Composite Bonding because I wanted to see if it was for me or not. The receptionist was lovely, patient and informative in the aftermath...sadly the female dentist I paid to have 'consult' me was not. Please read up on what your customers are visiting you for. This dentist had her gloves on ready to do something with my teeth, whereas I had paid to speak with her to get a sense of what I could potentially achieve with composite bonding and do the smart thing which was get educated. I had no intention of getting something done there that day. Instead all she did was interrupt me when I tried to speak, and appeared to get offended when I asked questions. As I tried to take a second to think about what I wanted to do she interrupted me again and said, "I think you should think it over outside" then turned her back to me and went to her computer as reception escorted me out. All I was left with was a sense of her judgment. I think this dentist is very very emotional. As it is ran by a husband and wife (my dentist), while nobody can pick this woman up on her behaviour she should respect her business and company by showing some respect and patience for customers. She is not an approachable person. You do your teeth her way or it's the high way ladies and gents! Massive shout out to the receptionist though. Lovely woman, should have given her the 40 quid!

Fantastic experience: I attended this lovely friendly practice recently following a fractured tooth. The practice itself is spotless and modern, run by Dr Tom Crotty and Dr Fiona Crotty providing excellent, professional dental care. Dr Fiona Crotty took out the fractured tooth for me which wasn't straightforward on the x-ray but her skill proved to be impeccable and the tooth came out in no time with no pain whatsoever or complications afterwards. As somebody who was a nervous patient even though I work in the industry myself, I completely recommend this practice.

Negative experience: Very disappointed with this place. My wife was wrongly diagnosed, they told her tooth can't be saved and recommended taking it out. Well guess what, tooth is still alive and well after visiting another dentist. Also, my kid got two fillings and first one broke after only couple of months. Update (reply to owner) 01/11/2020: My wife doesn't have same last name as me, that's why you can't find her in your records. Nevermind, my kid is in your records, but you won't bother with that.

Negative experience: wife had work done there, she was left with a infection and hugely swollen jaw for a week. our concerns were ignored. had to go elsewhere to get it resolved. Bad practice, worse aftercare!

Fantastic experience: Wonderful Dental Practice. Dr. Crotty's skill as a dentist is, without a doubt, first class. I had 2 extractions done and on both occasions Dr. Crotty and the staff where very kind and understanding. Dr. Crotty's ability in making what quite often is a painful and apprehensive procedure into a painless experience is down simply to his medical skill, experience and professionalism!

Fantastic experience: Having gotten braces in Old Bawn Dental over four years ago, I’m just as thrilled with my teeth today as I was the day the braces were removed. Dr. Crotty undoubtedly changed my life by fixing my teeth and he has taken excellent care of my smile ever since. Additionally, the staff are all lovely to deal with; really warm and welcoming. I genuinely couldn’t recommend Dr. Crotty or his practice highly enough....I’ll never go to another dentist again!
