Negative experience: Routine tooth extraction turned into a nightmare!! Called to make an emergency appointment 1 month after having a tooth removed as I was in serious pain. When an appointment couldn’t be made within 24 hours I had to see my gp, I was referred to beamount hospital as the infection had spread and was showing early signs of sepsis ! I can understand these things happen but the aftercare is absolutely diabolical !!

Negative experience: really unprofessional team, every time I book I get cancelled, sometimes two and 3 appointments in a row even tho I book ahead of time, and they keep cancelling last minute. Yet they have the nerve to charge us a cancellation fee if we were to cancel! They have zero care or consideration for their patients, it’s just a business

Negative experience: Booked online for check up & clean 3 weeks in advance. Received phone call from reception 24 hours before appointment asking what I had booked on for Then told that dentist "I booked in" (was automatically selected) doesn't "do" cleans Was told I would receive phone call in a few hours to reschedule for same day. Eventually got a call 8 hours later, telling me "your app has been cancelled?" Why have an online booking system that's not fit for purpose? I would also suggest more clarity from reception calling customers & try not to pass the buck onto someone when it's clearly the fault of the company.

Fantastic experience: WOW the team are absolutely amazing, front desk are incredibly helpful and go above and beyond what I'd be used to with other dental practices. They know their stuff. Lesley-Anne (front desk) really pushed me in the right direction, getting me all my approvals for VHI (even before I arrived, couldn't believe it), I literally didn't have to think about a thing. Customer experience 10/10!! Dr Dennis and his assistant were amazing, I felt so welcome and comfortable! Consultations were fast and explained so well. When they work on you, they explain what's happening so you are brought along through the treatment and it makes you feel very relaxed. The end results were so good and u feel so confident. I left here feeling so welcomed and looked afterward, the team are great craic and I always arrive and leave with a smile! Smiles all round, pun intended THANK YOU so so much, 10/10 will be recommending to my friends ✨

Negative experience: I made an appointment for a PRSI scale and polish weeks in advance and I spoke on the phone with someone to pay my €15 deposit to secure my booking and all my details were noted and confirmed. I then arrived to my appointment a few weeks later and the woman at the front desk said she had no details of my booking. She told me because I changed my mobile number they were unable to ring me to get my deposit from me (which I already had paid) she then tried to convince me that cause because my number was changed and they were unable to contact me that this was why there were no details of the booking. If they were trying to ring me and could not get through, why couldn’t they have emailed me?? The woman beside her also said that my PRSI was approved by the lady I was engaging with which means she was the one who did not do her job and she did not own up to her mistake. I was extremely annoyed over this and my time was completely wasted. I will never set foot in a smiles dental clinic again. The man beside me who was checking in also said he had issues with a filling that was put in and that the dentist made things worse so I would strongly advise people to avoid the Smiles dental chain.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic dental clinic, full of fantastic people. I have had more than 20 appointments here in the last 14 months, for a large range of issues. Nearly all have been with Dr Ernesto. He is truly amazing. So nice, so educated, so skilled, so considerate and polite, so thorough in his work. He is 10/10. I really feel lucky that I found Ernesto. Every single appointment with Ernesto was perfect. He gives so much of his time to explain things, he offers different options if they exist, and he talks with the patient about what is happening at every stage in the process. You can feel that he knows what he’s doing. This is a very comfortable feeling for the patient, and I would trust him to do anything to me. He is also very gentle. This makes a huge difference. The other staff at the clinic , all the dental nurses and receptionists, they are all lovely people. I chat with them all the time, they are all super helpful and just genuinely decent people. I would recommend this dentist surgery to everyone, especially Ernesto, and I hope to keep him as my dentist for many years to come. Thank you so much guys for everything ☺️

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to Smiles in swords for a few years for general cleaning twice a year and seen several dentists all of which have been so nice. The receptionists are always lovely and helpful making sure they can accommodate the times l am available. When l found out l needed to get some fillings redone my latest dentist Dr Ernesto was brilliant, keeping me calm and relaxed when l had to do the filling and get anaesthetic for the first time. No pain afterwards so very pleased!

Negative experience: Over all, the culstomer experience received from the business operation team are very poor. Customer are handled rather than helped. This is a business that does not embrace and welcomes diversity and inclusion. I recommend people who are not willing to restricted by only the Irish culture, do not choose this Clinc. You can only do what you are told. It’s an interesting way of managing a business after all. I received a call from the receptionist a few months later after I booked my appointment. The administrator demanding me to pay for a deposit which normally was charged at the point of making appointment. I asked to check my bank records first in case I was overcharged. She didn’t care and wasn’t interested in what I had said at all, and would not let me say a more words. When I insisted finishing what I had to say, she started to accuse me for shouting.l made her aware that she needed to watch out for her poor telephone manners. She handed up on me. I called back and requested to spoke to her manager, not only her manager was not available, she handled up on me straight away. I called again, asked her why I am not allowing to talk, that was it a monologue, she handed up on me again. Then she don’t pick up the call again. I am not sure this is a scam call or this Clinc just have a very poor skilled staff. It’s a very unpleasant and upsetting experience that I had with this Clinc. I am consider to move dentist after this. Then the manager called me, she was good at listening to me but she said that the way customers speak to receptionists has to comply to her business rules, which is mainly based on Irish culture. When customers is mistreated, if they sound tiny bit frustrated, they will be “ marked” as shouting. And this behaviour is not acceptable to them. So I was in the wrong when I was shocked by the bad telephone manners, and in order to make myself heard, I have to comply to their rules and behave like a good Irish person, than I am deserving to be heard. If I don’t sound like a happy customer, then what ever I said, I was shouting. I ask her to cancel the appointment and I will never attend the service again. As the receptionist behaves as a bully, now I understand that’s because the manager endorses the behaviour. I raised my concerns that there seemed no room for diversity and inclusion of other cultures, she started to handle me again restating their policies and I didn’t fit into the way their good customer should behave. I emphasised the policy means the Irish way or no way. Nonetheless people speaking a second languages and coming from a different culture background, but it not her concern. I was wrong because I didn’t react the way she thinks I should. I was demanded to do what I was told and had no right to check my bank balance first before I make another payment. They looked after their profit while customer just had to hope for the best that they are honest. I recommend that anyone who dislike being disrespected and mistreated , this is not a good clinic for you to start letting them look after your dental health. Otherwise there will be no more smile dental experience for you.

Negative experience: They have more than one dentist but the one I saw was terrible. As a patient who has some apprehension with drills and scraping on my teeth , I was a little nervous. When i displayed discomfort during a cleaning , the dentist tried to tell me what he was doing couldn't be causing any pain whatsoever. Even though my reaction was an involuntary reflex reaction to have sensitive teeth being scraped . The dentist became argumentative and suggested I consider ending the procedure if i continued displaying i was in pain. I was absolutely astounded that a dentist would tell me I was overreacting to a procedure and I wasn't feeling what I was telling him I was feeling. I never went back and would suggest if you have sensitive teeth or are just nervous around dentistry , avoid this place at all costs .

I rang smiles dental sworda and the lovely staff were able to give me an appontment in the spot, dentist was excelent, excellent service and reasonably priced. I will come back. Thanks!

Negative experience: Only dentist that would help me in my area, a bit pricey compared to other places, but Gina the dentist was good in seeing me to try to help. I went in with a hole in my back tooth (molar) and I was in a lot of pain, I asked for whatever treatment there is that will stop the pain, I was told that I would be getting root treatment, and in 2 stages. Great i said, I'll do that, We started, no surface anaesthetic used, just straight in with the needle, painful. Then the drilling start, I was in a lot of pain, I already said before it start that i require more anaesthetic than usual as the medication I am on counteracts it. I got one vile, my last dentist, who was closed unfortunately, used 8 viles as he knew that it wouldn't be effective otherwise. And I felt very little with him, but not this time with this dentist. We finished, and she said I put in a temporary filling, there is a 50/50 chance it might work and might not, I thought, hang on, you said you would do root treatment, not a filling as i wanted the pain gone!! That was not all, she also drilled my pre molar and at the top and it had a temporary filling to. I didn't want that at all.. there was no decay, just some enamel had worn away but it was not causing any pain. 20 minutes after the procedure and on my way home the pain kicked in.. way worse than before, and not only that but it was the pre molar she had drilled that I did not want any work on that was hurting me a lot. My wife rang them, told them my situation and how much pain I was in, Neve called me back and never helped.. I went to dame street dental, they examined me, took x-rays.. something swords should have done before carrying out work, and told me the issue, the pre molar had been drilled in too far that it was hitting the nerve, and my molar was just beyond saving now as it was also drilled too far down.. I was charged €140 by swords to ruin two teeth that I have now lost. Dame street dental will send by email, my x-rays, before and after pictures of the work that was done in swords and the damage that was done as shown in the x-rays. I will be wanting my money back, and compensation for the 4 days of even more pain that I did not need to go through at all if the work that was suppose to happen had happened. It was a terrible experience, and even when I said it was hurting during the procedure I was just told it's ok it's just pressing the filling against the nerve.. what!?! I shouldn't feel it at all, and not to mention I didn't want what was getting done. Thanks to all this i am going to suffer the loss of 2 very important teeth.

Fantastic experience: Was there recently after my girlfriend had a major tooth emergency. I've the phone the lady was very pleasant and understanding offering solutions to the situation before the visit. We got moved to an earliler appointment which also helped us in a major way and in the day everyone was very accomodating as well and the very professional dentist who gave us amazing treatment. Can't recommend enough

Negative experience: After an orthodontic appointment on 24/01 and numerous phone calls requesing the treatment plan that was discussed at the consultation and request for an additional dental appointment, all I could get was promises that I will receive feedback. Not once did I receive any feedback. Should have known this was a waste of money when it took 3 phone calls and 2 weeks to produce the invoice for my consultation.

Negative experience: My daughter has just come back from a check up and cleaning, it tears. Being really nervous and going in on her own as an adult for the first time was really hard, the dentist was rough and as she was crying in the chair the dentist didn't even ask was she OK, neither did the dental nurse. I'm so upset and angry. A bit of compassion would go a long way.

Negative experience: Pese a que los dentistas y los ortodoncistas son buenos, el trato recibido por los recepcionistas fue denigrante además de pésimo. Mi tratamiento empezó en Waterford durante la pandemia y la clínica de Waterford cerró de manera temporal incluso después del lockdown. Uno de mis braces se despegó hiriendo mis encías y arañando mi dentadura. Cuando llamé a los servicios de urgencias de la clínica, me dijeron que no me podían atender, y que contratara los servicios externos de otra clínica dental para atender esta emergencia. Además, una de sus recepcionistas fue muy maleducada por el teléfono. Finalmente arreglaron el problema después de quejarme públicamente en redes sociales. Para el resto de tratamientos, me mandaron a la clínica de Enniscorthy, y nadie se ofreció a pagar la gasolina. Esta clínica está muy lejos de Waterford. El resto del tratamiento lo continuaron, a petición mía y después de estar exhausta, a la clínica se Swords. En esta clínica el trato ha sigo vejatorio. Primero me instaron a pagar más en mis visitas al doctor en frente de los demás clientes. Aunque no había ninguna cantidad mensual estipulada ni pactada previamente. Pero el recepcionista no estaba contento. Después, me decían que la cantidad que me faltaba por pagar era de una cuantía muy superior ( gracias a Dios guardo todos los recibos de año y medio de tratamiento). Aún así les ofrecí fotocopiar los recibos para sus récords. Pero el día del pago final la cuantía seguía incorrecta y la recepcionista me dijo que me ocupara yo de arreglar este problema con el resto de las clínicas. A la hora de darme los retainers, me hicieron mal el molde. Tuve que ir por segunda vez y pedir permiso en mi trabajo. Acordamos que por este motivo los retainers me los enviarían a mi casa. 15 días después, he tenido que llamar a la clínica porque no he recibido nada. Tenían mal mi dirección pese a que la puse de manera manual el el ordenador de la doctora. No se han disculpado ni nada, si no que además me ha atendido otra recepcionista que no me dejaba ni hablar. Lamentable! Espero que este trato vejatorio no tenga que ver con mi nacionalidad.

Negative experience: As needed last minute appointment before holidays, i veered to Smiles in Swords, having been a [very happy] patient for a number of years in Smiles Balbriggan The Dentist was professional and thorough and did a good examination, however not quite as delicate as i have experienced in Smiles Balbriggan, but good job nonetheless The overall experience however was marred by offensive comments made by the receptionist while i was querying when my last appointment was for PRSI purposes. Mumbling "worth a try" without eye contact when being asked to double check is not professional and highly offensive, As i have full health coverage with LAYA which covers me for 2 cleanings a year, the cost is not relevant as such, i mainly post this review for visibility that ALL patients should be treated with care and respect. I was hoping that i would have an amicable move to a practice closer to my current home address, but given today's experience, that would not be likely in Smiles Swords, thank you for squeezing me in however, please address this with your staff, mainly the one sitting closest to the door/window The other receptionist appeared to be courteous i think in phone and in person, unfortunately i did not deal with her on the day.

I got a tooth out last week and she kept the process so easy kept me updated with what she was doing, kept me at ease and went above and beyond. Negative experience: Made an appointment for a check up and clean as Smiles Swords is part of the VHI dental network so all payments are handled direct. I called prior to apt with my insurance details and I was covered so all was good. I was advised at the appointment that I needed 2 fillings- The dentist took x-rays and I was then charged €20 but was never told by the dentist that I'd be charged- I had checked my insurance and that is covered so I will claim that back but still think I should have been made aware of this first. As I left and made the payment I made an appointment for the two fillings for 2 weeks later, when I arrived there was no booking in the system so I booked in again for a further 2 weeks. When I got there, they told me the Insurance company never approved it- as I'm sitting in the chair- and I would have to claim back myself- I told them I didn't have the full amount at the time and asked them to call me when the approval came through (have gone to another practice previously who were part of the VHI network and this was never the case, it was always handled directly between the insurer and dentist)- completely wasted my time on 2 occasions so I moved practice because I hadn't (and still haven't) heard from anyone and the service is obviously terrible. Luckily I did as I went to another dentist who advised I absolutely do not need fillings, he carried out a thorough examination as well as taking further x-rays (was not charged so goes to show something fishy is going on in smiles). It seems like a money making scam and is really disappointing. Will never step foot in there again and have warned friends and family to stay away too!

Fantastic experience: ABSOLUTELY AMAZING SERVICE!! I had severe pain in my gums and I went to doctor as it was an ongoing but noting would help so he recommended I go to dentist! It was great service and I met really nice dentist called Dr. Quigley. I avoid going dentist because I am extremely nervous, tjey put me at ease with her kind nature and reassurance. Fantastic experience: What an amazing dental practice. As soon as you walk in the door you are made feel so welcome when you are greated by two of the loveliest receptionists Sandra and Laura. They were so helpful and great at their job! The dentist and his dental nurse were also fantastic so friendly and did a great job! 100% recommend Smiles Dental in Swords!

Negative experience: My front tooth was a bit broken on the edge. I came to Smile direct in sword. Admin was very welcoming lady. I got to Dr Shauna Quiglet, she was nice to talk to, she did a job, quite fast. Moving me to the door I realised that I never saw my tooth in the mirror after her job. I asked for a mirror and when I saw I was shoked. My front tooth was curved ar the edge. Com' on, don't you not see the line? One tooth is straight and another curved. I patiently asked please make it straight as tooth beside. She said I tryed to match a corner of your tooth to tooth beside. I understand it, but why curved Front tooth!!!! I asked nicely would you mind please make it straght and a bit longer as I understood if she will file the curve it will be short, so overall look is simetric. She ralled her eyes and said ok. Did a job, I looked in to mirror. Shocked again. Seriously? Do you know the word Simetric? Do you understand it? She did 2 mm longer then second tooth. I understood that I'm in trouble here. Keep being calm I nicely said could you pleace make a bit shorter, just match to tooth beside. Please make overall look simetric, nice. In reply she said, I think you should leave. Really??? You didn't finish your job! A customer not satisfied! Charged me €200 for this mess on my tooth. Also front tooth she didnt even polish, I still have a hump on surface, difference between my own tooth and a stuff she stucked to it. Swear to God I even apologised to her, I new I shouldn't. And the feeling I had, she wanted to get rid of me as fast as possible. Awful discusting service I ever had.

Negative experience: I was here for some dental work a few times. It depends on the Dr you get for service. Mostly Ive had a rather condescending Dr, who has no patience and is too nit picky. Last time I was there I got a cleaning from same guy who did a terrible job, I shouldnt have even bothered. I think his name was Dennis. Never again.

Fantastic experience: I had five sittings with the truly lovely Geenann, an Iraqi lady. Very very competent dentist complete with an excellent personal manner, a rare combination to have both traits. Total restoration project which was a complete success. I would recommend her to anybody and look forward to the checkup/ scale &polish in 6 months.
