Fantastic experience: My experience with Shields was very very good. I really never thought I would be writing a review of a Dental Practice as I have dreaded going to dentists . However my experience with Shields was totally different , from start to finish .Imagine feeling so relaxed that I almost feel asleep during the time getting a filling . Staff go over and beyond to make you feel relaxed and comfortable yet remaining so professional with carrying out their work .

Staff are so friendly, and also so comforting and show great patience to their patients who have had terrible experiences with other dentists as in the case of my mam who I took here as I knew from visiting they would look after her and that they did. Highly recommend them.

Fantastic experience: 5 star experience. Excellent treatment and excellent care. However, I find the pressure for more and more check ups overwhelming. What was to be a six monthly then became 3 and an email looking for an appointment within a 2 month period. What was a good review then suddenly became pressure for crowns which was unexpected. Found the pressure too much. However I found the treatment excellent. Just a little less pressure please.

Fantastic experience: I had to have a lot teeth removed before starting chemotherapy. Everyone at Shields dental clinic were so understanding and kind during my dental treatment. When my teeth were fitted I couldn't believe my eyes.They looked so natural and I could smile again! Instead of trying to hide it. So a big thank you to everyone at the Clinic for amazing service.

Negative experience: I was in a few weeks ago and had a very poor experience. Firstly I was charged extra for X-rays without being informed beforehand, even though I was told that I would be informed. Also I was due fillings and they are charging DOUBLE the going rate of every other dentist in the area

Fantastic experience: My daughter has been attending Shields for over a year now, specifically Dr Alejandra for her braces. They have been absolutely amazing since the get go. Lovely warm atmosphere in the clinic and all the staff are wonderful. Her teeth are looking amazing! Would highly recommend. Dr Alejandra is amazing at what she does.

Fantastic experience: Thanks to all the wonderful staff at Shields Dental in Roscrea - especially Dr Andrii Kogut for an excellent reconstruction and crown on a cracked and very painful molar. He explained the options, risks and costs clearly. I'm delighted with the results.

Fantastic experience: Dr Andrii, removed a wisdom tooth for me. I have a huge fear of tooth removal from an experience as a child. This fear was huge. He talked to me and calmed me so much he had said he would change my opinion on dentist visits. He talked me through it all and never did a thing unless I was comfortable. I felt no pain and i was so comfortable. Claire was his nurse on the day and she also held my hand through it all and made the whole experience so much easier on me. My mind has completely changed on the whole thing. Dr Andrii is fantastic and I couldn't recommend him enough. I'd urge anyone who is scared of tooth removal to book in with him very calming nature

Positive experience: After months of being in unbearable pain in my face and neck ,thinking it was sinuses .I went to the dentist to see if it could be anything to do with my teeth, to be told it could be all from my Jaw. Thankfully with there help i am pain free after months/years of living on medication just to get through the day. They fitted me for a Occlusal Splint. The whole team are very friendly and helpful . Would recommend anyone with facial or neck pain to go get it checked out.

Positive experience: To be fair to them, I got an emergency appointment on a Saturday morning to go in that afternoon for an infected impacted wisdom tooth. I arrived at my given time but was left waiting for 45 min - I understand that delays can happen, but I was provided no apology or explanation from anyone. Staff were otherwise reasonably friendly and I was prescribed appropriate antibiotic therapy and pain relief. However an x-ray was taken and the horrified response of both the dentist and the nurse (to the position of the tooth, not the infection) surprised me as plenty of other dentists have seen it before without the dramatics. I told the dentist I was already under the care of an oral maxillo surgeon in the public system for a separate issue but he insisted I needed to be reviewed by Shield's own surgeon. 60euro, an unpaid day's leave from work and a trip to Limerick only to be told (by a very kind and professional surgeon) that there was no reason for me to spend more money with Shields when the other surgeon would be able to sort it for me under the public system. Really felt like the dentist who first saw me didn't listen to me and used scare tactics to push forward and extract an extra 60euro out of me. Overall left a bitter taste in my mouth and I would be slow to return unfortunately

Negative experience: Very bad went for check up been going there for 15 years new management Changed dentist found 3 fillings never recognised in this dentist I got a refund but still not happy over this

Negative experience: I recently had an appointment for a check up. Staff were nice and friendly. The dentist told me that I needed a filling but I was competly taken aback when the nurse informed me that the filling would be €250. I enquired if this would be the total cost of my visit (i.e. check up and filling) but I was told that this would not be the case. I was also x-rayed during the check up, which the nurse then informed me, after the fact, that there was a €50 charge for these and an additional cost of €30 for the check up itself. A total cost of €330 for a check up and a filling seems totally excessive as this was never the case when the practise was under it's previous owner. I've since done my research on other local dentists and fillings range from €90 to €120 so I'm still at a loss as to how they charge €250.

Negative experience: Worse dentist ever had to pay 500 euro up front on day just for him to make a five minute plan for my teeth. Such rubbish I told my new dentist and he couldn't believe it. Avoid at all costs

Fantastic experience: Really very happy with recent work by Cormac Shields. This included 2 crowns which I had put off for years. Very friendly staff. Work was explained and then carried out very efficiently, and with great consideration for my comfort. All preceded by an overdue cleaning by the hygienist. Great throughout. Incidentally, this is the first time ever I have taken the time to enter any review.

Positive experience: General staff were very friendly and helpful. I felt like the dentist himself didn’t really care about me as a patient however. He never explained my procedure to me (wisdom teeth extraction) and that they were only taking one instead of two. He handed me a prescription afterwards but never told me what it was for and why. Kind of felt like I was taking up his time as he was very rushed in answering any questions I asked. He did a fantastic job with the actual extraction though

Fantastic experience: Nov 2023 emergency apt sought sat and provide Monday and issue fixed in few mins. Very good service ! April 2023 Daughter got braces fitted. Had to have 4 extractions 1st and a no.of fittings, x-rays and check ups. Everyone from reception to dental nurses, dentists and orthodontist were excellent and made her very comfortable. Dec 2022 Have been here for extraction, check up, cleaning and consultation for braces for myself or my daughter in the last month. All staff were new to me but everyone was very pleasant and kind. Place is clean and tidy and handy access. Still wearing masks which I was happy to see. Very busy so don’t delay or miss appointments as push out dates can be weeks in future. Anne Delaney on reception is just outstanding, so helpful with appointments, advice and with paperwork.

Negative experience: The very worst experienced of my life. I went in with a chiped toot and ended up with more problems going out then I went in with. Only for the oldest member of the team with a lifetime experience I would still be in serious pain. When that member leaves the practice I will also be leaving. Worst experience ever. Bad dentistry ever and only seems to be in it for the time slot or money, patient care satisfaction seems to be second place.

Negative experience: Hi I attended in August. Had impression taken. Unfortunately I am medical card holder. It had to be sent away to be allowed go ahead. They request my medical number again saying it wasn't valid. It was in fact valid. I'm still waiting for approval to get my denture. Not a happy bunny. Negative experience: I received a call from Shields say I was due back for a visit that basically was relining of dentures. I explained I could drop in on the way from work Friday but would need dentures back by Saturday lunchtime that I had meetings in the afternoon and if that was not possible there is no point in me calling in. I got told to come in and they would tighten them while I wait. When I got there it was the opposite they said I need relining and to leave them with them until maybe Monday evening. Why lie in the first place. NOW I HAVE TO TRY FIND ANOTHER DENIST THAT COULD TAKE THEM OF A FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND RETURN SATURDAY MORNING
