Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Staff are fantastic. Polite kind and efficient in A&E. Hospital is clean and busy but calm atmosphere. Thank you!
Fantastic experience: After falling from a ladder, I was helped in the hospital very quickly. I am very satisfied with the care and friendly staff. Care, doctors and all service at the highest level. Thank you for your help and care. Thank you all for your care with Redwood Ward and Ms Ciara Fox For the great work thanks to the whole team, my hand is in excellent condition. Thank you
Fantastic experience: The people at the hospital A&E for children are very kind, and they helped us take care of the wound. A special thank you to AE children staff!
Negative experience: Terrible place waiting for 5hours there is no results just nothing.
Fantastic experience: We booked an appointment online for the children emergency department in 1h, and we were sorted les then in 1 hour, including an x-ray and doctor. Amazing staff, best quality service. Thank you so much
Negative experience: The worst organisation I ever seen. The patient must wait 14 hourse to see a doctor at emergency section.
Fantastic experience: I couldn’t have asked for better care, every step of the way all the staff were absolutely amazing. It was my first time ever being admitted for a procedure at a hospital, first time being put under general anesthesia, I was also all on my own. I had nothing to worry about as I was in great hands and felt super supported by everyone. Enormous thanks to Dr. Cheema, Dr. James, nurse Melinda, Serena and every one on the Day Ward. Deeply grateful for being looked after so well.
Fantastic experience: Change the name back to James Connolly Memorial Hospital, sounds grander.
Fantastic experience: Well was in the emergency department this morning zone 2 With a chronic stomach disorder. I Was lucky because it was relatively quiet. Thank you to the Doctor that I seen today. And the nurses, The doctor's name was Dawn. This time, I was given various drips for pain, dehydration and the stomach. Which took the edge off , but I was really badly dehydrated. And thank you to Dublin city fire brigade ambulance two very nice chaps. I have been to various hospitals 4 times this month. This was the fourth time in Hospital, Thank God I was given the various medications today.Because it has helped, chronic IBS is what I have, but I have had this flare up now for nearly 4 weeks.Very painful ,indeed And Anybody that has these various stomach?Complaints , know that it can affect you badly going to the toilet Constantly. That's where the dehydration came in. That makes you worn out on top of the pain.
Positive experience: During visits and appointments it's a great place ans service but the ER is always hours and hours of waiting day or night. Hope things improve for the community.
Positive experience: Unfortunately like most hospitals the wait can be long. I am regularly in and out of a and e. My team are fantastic and usually tend to get straight to the point which is what you want. The staff are brilliant especially bill over in cedarwood ward. He really goes above and beyond for his patients and its just so nice to see someone who really enjoys there job. Also rachel over in cedarwood is fantastic gave me and my husband a great giggle while we were there and to all of the other cedarwood staff Thank you for always being kind Amy kelly ❤️
Positive experience: Came in with my partner to the ER and he was seen to almost immediately. Parking situation is a stressful nightmare, I had to circle around a few times to find a spot after dropping him off at the front door of ER. When I finally parked and rushed in, he had already been brought through and the nurse kept me updated on how he was doing as I couldn't go through to the restricted section with him. Hospital staff were lovely and reassuring. I just wish the parking situation was resolved, especially as the ambulance service is so stretched that there should be better facilities for people driving their loved ones into the emergency department. Having the ER entrance around the back with all the ramps and bad quality roads is also poor planning in my opinion.
Fantastic experience: Amazing doctors and staff in the hospital, very helpful throughout including emergency department staff, orthopaedic doctors and nurses.
Fantastic experience: To the surgeon and all the staff involved in Connolly hospital and all staff in Masteosimone ward the went above and beyond very greatful Anne mc keever
Positive experience: I was hospitalized for three days for gastroenteritis. The emergency was handled well but the problem arose later. I have a chronic illness, and they didn't give me antibiotics. After I was released, I felt sick again the next morning. When I returned, I went to the waiting room. First, they call you and take your appointment. Then you go back to the waiting room. After two hours, they call you and take your blood. You go back to the waiting room. After two hours, they call you and take your blood pressure. You go back to the waiting room, and so on until someone finally gives you a diagnosis. But it really seems like a joke. Call someone, have the nurse perform all the procedures, and then give that person a diagnosis, and that's it. Then call the next person. That's how it works all over the world, with common sense.
Fantastic experience: Dislocated my shoulder and was seen to immediately. All staff very friendly and efficient even though it was well past midnight. Can’t thank them enough
Positive experience: Unfortunately I have to come here a few times a year parking is a bit of a nightmare. Great staff providing a great service, Coffee shop and shop on site.
Positive experience: Great team of staff.
Fantastic experience: An amazing team who really care about their patients and very quick too
Negative experience: Been at this hospital twice for the same reason. First time a&e was OK with 4 hours wait time until admission and a bed was found but this time I stayed awake all night from 8 pm to 8 am with infection until they managed to get me some antibiotics. Then once I got admitted there were no beds so.i stayed on a freaking chair all the time with no privacy and my stuff all over the place. I have to constantly remind nurses to give me my antibiotics on time - it's dispicable. The only good thing is I am not directly paying for this garbage service (only through 50% tax rate). This entire hospital needs retraining.
Negative experience: The worst hospital in ireland, impossible to contact and get any information from them even if you have been an outpatient here.
Fantastic experience: I want to thank all the staff in connolly who looked after my son last 7 days the care wax amazing he's on the road a bit of light starting to appear elaine Dave James
Positive experience: Comfortable, Old hospital.
Positive experience: Edited. Long waiting hours . 20+ hours.however Most staff are friendly once you are in. They give you full service when you are in.
Positive experience: Not a bad hospital . needs more doctors in A+E in the evening time
Negative experience: If you need a help with cardio problems don't go there. Dr Aziz is very rude unprofessional reumathologist running the cardiology ward. They discharged me with possible thrombosis, his words without any further treatment or medication. After 3 months still waiting for discharge letter.
Fantastic experience: Very helpful reception. Lovely restaurant. Found parking good.
Fantastic experience: I spent 2 nights in Blanch a couple of weeks ago I stayed in the Walnut ward and a nurse by the name of Maraid she was fantastic and could not do enough for me If you had more nurses like her it would be Fantastic Thank you so much
Positive experience: I have always found Blanchardstown hospital and other public hospital’s professional and totally competent. Remember you don’t know each patients private details. I look well but have Colon cancer, Pulmonary embolism, and wear a stoma bag. This service is free if you are not happy perhaps you can look at going private and paying for care not as good. Have patience and appreciate the hard working staff who may not have had a break in their 12 hour shift.
Positive experience: Starting with the emergency service. They did a great job. I know the waiting time was long for my wife and so they didn't do a comprehensive test in the first visit, I have to call emergency service the second time. But those doctors and nurses that attended to her were amazing. My wife complained bitterly about the coloured skinned staff (Asians) that some were cold to her.
Fantastic experience: My Mother Sheila Irwin was there for 12 weeks i cannot express how grateful we are for how she was looked after by nurses doctors tea ladies ,housekeepers etc. Forever Grateful' The Irwin Family
Fantastic experience: Very clean. Excellent treatment.
Negative experience: The biggest issue in Connolly hospital, is all the women cnms do more fighting and giving out than actually manage the area. Also the people at reception can be rude and unable to talk to people in a mannerly way! They all need to change their attitude and do their job more professionally and stop lying and causing trouble among their own community. Work together and help each other. Be helpful to their patients and visitors
Positive experience: We want to thank the full support team of Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown and specially to ICU Nurse Omega from the bottom of our hearts for the care and support she gave during our most difficult time. She nursed my husband in the ICU with such responsibility and dedication that he began to regain his strength. Her commitment to her duty, without taking anything personally, brought him back from the face of death. We will always be grateful for what she has done, and she will forever be in our prayers.
Negative experience: Horrible. I went to the emergency department as my toe was in serious pain and I know it’s not that emergent but I’m a diabetic type 1 and we must take care off our feet very very carefully. So I decided to go to the emergency department for them take care of it as they are professionals. Got admitted at 26th 5pm and came out at 27th 6am. Absolutely a disgrace. I understand there’s more serious issues with other people but 13 hours in pain? You get treated like a dog. I asked the nurse for how much longer do I need to wait and he just gave out to me saying your problem is not serious you might as well go home. Horrible service. I asked for pain killers at reception and got completely ignored and lied too as they said the nurse will call me in to give me some. Never happened. I wouldn’t be mad to wait 13 hours if something had been done but no, absolutely disgraceful i sat there 13 hours in pain and got treated like a dog too and once a doctor took me in he had a look for less than a minute and said it’s a “self-healing problem” and just prescribed me a cream and sent me home. 13 hours to just go back home in pain. (Mind you I recently turned 16) and it hurts me a lot to now realise how grateful I should’ve been when I had the chance to go to temple street. This is really shameful on the Irish government as my parents and alot of older people pay insurance/tax “to invest back into the country” and they decide to invest 9 million on phone pouches. Absolutely disgraced by the irish government. It says something if a 16 year old can spot this. Do better
Positive experience: The woman at the information desk misled me. The woman at the A&E registration desk is not very intelligent, not very empathetic and unhelpful. A man comes in with a nervous breakdown, he can barely speak because he is crying, he has a note from the doctor where everything is written down and she asks the man what is wrong with him and if he has a stomach ache. The nurses are very nice and helpful. The GP is very good, after the visit when I was waiting for the next doctor he asked me if I would like a coffee. He personally brought me a coffee and a cake. The next doctor I saw did not send a report to my GP what he was supposed to do and only prescribed me tablets for 3 days (3 for the day, 3 for the night) for which I paid over €17.
Positive experience: Was admitted for 5 days due to a bad infection. Reception was a bit slow. However I was triaged and treated very quickly when my letter was sent from the gp stating I could have sepsis. I waited a few hours perhaps 6 for a bed. All staff were lovely especially catering staff. However I couldn't eat. But meals were lovely and doctors and nurses were kind and professional. One nurse was rude on the ward perhaps she was having a bad day. She became irritated when I got upset one of the days and told me willpower will make me better. Apart from this interaction it was a positive experience and I was sent home feeling much better.
Negative experience: Do you know what EMERGENCY means? 10 hours in the waiting room? Mockery and carelessness
Positive experience: This was the best hospital visit I've experienced in years. Each staff member from the admin, front desk, nurses, doctors were all unbelievable in their customer focus. Really restored my faith in the Irish health system. No talking amongst themselves, great eye contact, straight, chatty, kind, professional, I could go on. They really seemed to enjoy their work, and it showed. Other hospitals could definitely learn from this more human customer focused method. One star gone only because the carpark is a complete nightmare to find a spot, and it may be better to pay at exit, as I put 5e in as I thought I would be hours waiting about like other places, but it was so efficient that I was in and out within the hour. I imagine if I'd got stuck, how could I get to the carpark to top up my ticket? Great staff, great work ethic, great attitude. Thank you
Negative experience: Out patients signs. We parked our car in a disabled spot. We entered the main entrance of the hospital. Following the signs hanging from the ceiling for outpatients. Pushing my husband in a heavy hospital wheelchair, we saw the sign said next right. But next right was clearly marked NO ENTRY STAFF ONLY. We were told by a member of staff it was A&E. How could this be? He advised us to walk through A&E and outpatients was across the road from the exit door. So we did. Passing injured and sick people…… pushing the heavy chair up a hill and eventually finding the entrance to OP. When our appointment was finished we took a route from OP to establish how to get back into the Main Hospital - to see where we mere mortals went wrong. We found the way. The signs to OP from the Main hospital are simply - wrong. Disgraceful. Does no one walk these routes to check the signs are correct? Clearly not. People are on walking sticks, crutches, in wheelchairs and these signs are wrong! Oh and the entrance door into Op’s is manual, so someone has to help you by opening the door so you csn push the chair through . And this is a hospital!!!
Negative experience: Avoid if you can at all. You will be treated worse than a dog. A veterinary hospital would take better care of you.
Negative experience: very bad sitvation !!! 4-5-6 ouver weiting doctor this not normallyyy .
Negative experience: It's sad to see HSE system and the doctors who do not know what they are doing. I visited Dr. Mayilone Arumugasamy who calls himself Professor. Diagnosis - I'm healthy, after returning back home ( to Lithuania) visiting the doctor - the conclusion is surgery. It's sad to see the health system here.
Fantastic experience: This place was pretty Sogma in got free toast and there machines were pretty funky thankfully I did not get brain damage
Negative experience: You should make the Triage better organized, there should be a doctor who knows how to triage according to the nature of the problem, because I came with a possible eardrum and the people who entered before me were those who had a few scratches after small accidents , possible colds or stomachaches. When I write this message I've been waiting for 5 hours and I haven't been able to get in, it's not even crowded or there's anything to influence. God bless Ireland, if it was a country at war like Ukraine, I don't know what would have happened. That's why the Russians and the Chinese laugh at us (the Europeans), because we are not able to deal with small problems. No one reads the dozens of reviews and no one takes into account what is said here, to have a medical system clearly inferior to the poorest country in Europe seems sad to me.
Fantastic experience: Dr,MC,faden was just brilliant, and the way she looked after me was unbelievable, thanks Doc, Kieran carpenter.
Negative experience: I waited 6 hours and couldn't even see a doctor
Negative experience: The worst hospital I have ever been to. Parking is terrible. Outpatient waiting times to see a consultant - the longest ever. Outpatient blood tests - a joke!! 2 months waiting time Is there anyone working??? I can see that all the payrises and bonuses for medical staff 'motivated' them to do nothing.... Well done!!
Positive experience: I went to do some blood tests for my baby and I was very pleased, they moved very quickly. And what made me happy is that before they pricked him with an anesthetic spray and didn't cry at all (baby 7 months) compared to other hospitals that don't do that (Rotunda).
Negative experience: I've been here several times, after which I was satisfied, young, responsive doctors, relatively short queues. But, today I was seen by a doctor, a young guy named Philip, he looked completely out of mood and was very hasty. After a short conversation, he abruptly simply left without saying goodbye. I waited for him in the room for 10 minutes, still not understanding whether the session was over or not..
Negative experience: Avoid! Beware! !Do not drink water! Consume Only bottled. Even tea/coffee would make your stomach hurt, like you would be happy to give all your savings, just to get rid of your guts. Water is not threated right and uses old plumbing. Nurses knows that and will stuff you with more tablets but, it won't do. Literally nothing... High chance that critically ill people, wouldn't be washed for a couple weeks. Overcrowded rooms that designed for 6 is used for 8+ patients in one room. Sometimes it is mixed room (ladies + men's/ age doesn't matter). Single rooms are available for VIP's. For me, they didn't name the price, but I've been kicked out in couple minutes, before new business person has been allocated in the single room. Obviously with lies that you could come back to this room (you won't). Physio is good and trying their best. But they do not have any equipment at all and only 2 people + 2-3 students. Highly advised to check and see yourself - empty room. If you happen to get accident and will come in ambulance on Friday night. They'll refuse you. As doctor is off and your ambulance would need to look for another hospital, even if patient balances between life and death (happened personally to me). Place is dirty. The only person /department that is actually working. Social worker. She is wonderful. Hence only 1 star and that's hers. As other departments, you'll be lucky to get away without any more viruses. I this place I got a COVID, as in patients. When I got positive on result, they sent me to room (for 3) with other elderly patients. They were not COVID positive. I've stayed there for 2 weeks, but elderly patients were changed with different one, 3 times. Not sure what was their plan.
Fantastic experience: I got into a motorcycle accident and crushed my ankle, 3 surgeries in total. The pains bad but I’m so thankful for this hospital experience I was terrified of getting surgery and the staff made me relax and they took care of me the hospitals clean the rooms are nice and the staff are really polite
Negative experience: My father was dying and literally left on a trolley for hours. We couldn't get him into a hospice and was near death from cancer so we had no choice but to go to A&E. The health system in this country needs urgent improvement. No one should be dying on a trolley.
Fantastic experience: Had a small procedure to remove cyst from my scalp last week 7 March and was in and out in couple of hours and staff were all very friendly and professional. Have to give 5 stars as normally going to hospital is a long and stressful experience but not in this case.
Negative experience: My injection got cancelled for no reason ,my doctor wasn’t informed and now I have to wait additional 6 months due to that
Fantastic experience: They are doing the best they can. Yeah wait was long i needed plastic surgeon for face and orthoped doc for hand, yes i waited all day to get told you're staying a night then again all day to get to surgery but they fixed both my issues in one go. No compassion, people say i call bull**** on that. Everyone was super nice and helpful. Wait time is not cos they don't care or they're understaffed. Its cos there's too many patients not enough beds and they have to prioritise. Do you want someone dying for you to be taken care of fast if you're in no danger... if you ungrateful people are not happy with 'service' go to private clinics and spend years worth of your money, i promise you it will be quick fixed by some money motivated scum 100% less professional and good then kind and well trained docs and nurses that are here. This is a public hospital these people make less then they could if they have chosen private sector cos they care about people more then money thats something to be admired not spat on cos you had to wait cos there isn't enough doc's who care about people more than money. Shout outs to dr. Martin Murray his nurse (with most beautiful eyes i fell a sleep looking at) and anesthesiologist who's name i forgot, and my neighbour from Romania who really gave me strength when i needed it. Moving on to dr. Ami whos nicest, dr. Emma so pretty I'd marry her tomorrow, nurses: Orla, one who took my blood Rachel i think, nurse Dempsy and all others who made this trauma as easy as it can be for me. You guys are great people and really good at what you do, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Milos (guy with smashed face and broken hand)
Positive experience: Impossible to find parking at times. Long wait times to be seen by any doctor. Nurses are pleasant.
Negative experience: Cannot believe what is going on in this hospital. Instead of being looked after they will kill you . My husband is/was waiting on a chair since 18th March at 12 midnight till today 21st March at 6pm - for consultant !!!! to give him the diagnostic. These consultants are walking in the hospital like they are walking in the park and in a group of 5-10 of them. They really don't care about anybody . He did not sleep for 60 hours by now and even complaining looking for a bed that was supposed to be given to him ,he was ignored. Hope the politicians will have the same treatment. I am affraid of thinking to get sick in this country !!! Shame on the Irish government!!!
Negative experience: Front line staff doing their absolute best, but zero support from so called officialdom. When you arrive at a hospital and smell cannabis coming from a no smoking area right in full view of security, and see members of staff also smoking in no smoking areas, you realise how abysmally managed this place is. Another example of two tier Ireland and what those shameless people in power get away with.
Negative experience: This service is absolutely terrible . The doctor called me in after waiting for 4hr, and she told me my blood work came back fine! When no one has taken my blood! This is absolutely ridiculous!
Positive experience: Attended the Rheumatology clinic, which btw is not within the main building. On the right hand side as you approach the main roundabout in front of the main entrance. Lovely staff and seen to quickly. Only setback was the parking. Arrived st 0915h for a 1000h appointment, but cars were circling like vultures, looking for a spot. In the end had to park at the Junction 6 business centre and walk up.
Negative experience: Disgrace to even call it a hospital. Didn't know Ireland health care system is so poor.I am a doctor myself and my father has had necrosis / black finger for four month and has been visiting the hospital and they keep sending him to Beaumont hospital saying that they have made an appointment for him there , when they have not.My father went to the other hospital and was told there is no appointment under his name. CARELESS DOCTORS. Absolutely no morality or care for the patient.
Negative experience: I brought my colleague almost age 58 year here , she fell on street and her head started bleeding, at the reception they got all her details and asked her to wait. She kept bleeding and we changed 10 times tissues she hold off on her head but nobody came at least for the first aid. No offense but I thought stopping bleeding should be first emergency to be attended .
Negative experience: I see a lot of comments on waiting times. Here is mine 17hours and 21 minutes. 2 doctor interactions and 1 x-ray. Diagnosis inconclusive, was told to wait not sure for what but I just Left because I was about to pass out from hunger as I haven't ate is well over 24h and they couldn't offer anything because Kitchen was closed. Unless your actually dying just save urself the time.
Fantastic experience: I would like to thank all the staff for the wonderful care given to my mother from last Thursday to Wednesday of this week the doctors and nurses took excellent care of my mother Mary who will celebrate her 87 birthday on 8 of December thank you so much h from her daughter Cathy and family
Negative experience: If you die maybe they call your family thats it. I waited 12hrs no one came to me.
Positive experience: Some parts of the hospital is old , outdated, needs a good revamp of the old part of the hospital
Negative experience: It's a highly ineffective environment. The Advanced Nurse practitioner department is a complete terrible place to be. They literally abandon petient for hours doing absolutely nothing. In the 24th century People in imence pain are watin for over 5 hours to be seen for issue that can be dealt with 20 minuties s. It's highly disappointed in the team handling this department.
Negative experience: Here since 8pm and still have not seen a doctor the waiting room is empty how they can leave people in pain sitting this long is a joke it’s now 20:20am doubled up in pain with my gallbladder in and out of here the past 2 -3 weeks with the same issue have operation on Thursday and I’m back in with the same pain only 2 pain killers since I came in at 8pm i asked the nurse how long I will be waiting to see a doctor and he said a long time there’s nothing he can do what do they expect me to sit here all night doubled up in pain
Fantastic experience: Care received was excellent and the staff were so nice.
Negative experience: I was going with the ambulance and I was waiting more than 10 hours and No Doctors looked after me or other's. Someone was coming and they take her very quickly, she didn't waiting 5 mins because she was the sister of one from the staff. My little kid is in school and he was waiting for me.Was more people with serious sickness and she was well...
Negative experience: Not even worthy of a star. I have been in and out of this hospital with my mom for the last 16 years and nothing has changed. I get it they are understaffed. They need to work on their staffing issues no doctor for 10 hours? How is that possible in the emergency dept of a hospital. Make it make sense!!! On this open corridor there is no nurses and no doctors to be seen. My mother has severe ailments and when she wanted to leave no one even to take out her canola. Its such bad service that people are scared of coming here. It's like they are punishing people for being sick. Absolutely shocking it's getting worse and worse. The minister of health and etc should be ashamed of themselves.
Fantastic experience: Only reviewing the children's part of this so not commenting on the main hospital. Rang to get seen in the children's A & E and got a slot promptly. Place was exceptionally clean and staff very helpful. Kid got tests made quickly and results relayed in a reasonable time. Staff very kind and helpful. Well organised and seems to be a good filter for anyone blocking up and going to A&E for free non-urgent care that instead should be going to a GP. Good for low risk illnesses but if it is something very urgent and critical I think it is better to go to Temple Street as that is where you'll be sent anyway. I could see that they were being quite strict on who was going into the hospital (no kids in main hospital, and limited family members) which I agree with. Far too much chaos would ensue with large groups going in with one patient.
Negative experience: I went there with massive back pain and after 9h of no treatment except for few painkillers I was discharged home with the same pain. No mri,ct or x-ray. Nothing. Hopeless they are
Negative experience: Horrible went an and e because i was punched two weeks ago. I’ve been fainting, feeling lightheaded, having a pressure in my head and ears and numbness throughout my whole body. Waited 12 hours and the doctor said i’ve anxiety and gave me paracetamol and said it’s all in my head. My father came and argued and said i could die tomorrow and to at least do a brain scan, Doctor said people die every day. Horrible joke of a hospital completely avoid, i’m currently in Beaumont where they’re doing a CT scan and more.
Fantastic experience: Thanks to the Dr. Sean, best surgery Dr. he did a great job in my Finger… God Bless them. And Nurse Helen!! All Connolly Hospital Team….. Bravo!
Negative experience: The most useless hospital, I’ve been in pain for the past month continuously 24/7 in my head and these guys just keep prescribing pain killers (got prescribed MORPHINE this time) and don’t even care to diagnose the issue why it’s evening happening. Imagine how life threatening even headaches can be and the doctors here are a joke saying “Not enough Symptoms” and won’t even do Mri or CT. Do you want the patient to be in the last stage near death to treat them ? I hope the same happens to these doctors when they are old
Fantastic experience: Staff were great wait time 10 hours Irish hospitals what can you do
Negative experience: Parking, out of order and had to spend some time finding a machine that worked. The parking spaces hard to find a free space, very busy. No1 why are you making money from sick people? No 2 if they are going to charge us why do we need to walk so far for taking out money
Negative experience: I ve been waiting for 6 hours on their emergency lobby and had to leave even in a worse situation than I was at the arrival. It's not human to leave someone who is not feeling well sitting in a chair for so many hours. Avoid this place if you have other options.
Negative experience: Pregnant wife were waiting 5h for blood test result, shocking...
Fantastic experience: Was told by vhi swiftcare to go straight to hospital and I went to Blanchardstown was brought straight in was there for 8 days and couldn’t believe the treatment I got.all the nurses in a and e walnut ward and day surgical were brilliant it made a horrible time so much easier we’ll done
Negative experience: Another hospital, another horrible experience.. been sitting here for 10 hours and still no sign of doctor.. Absolute disgrace and shameful. HSE has collapsed, the healthcare system has collapsed. No regard for people’s pain or health whatsoever… if I come here with an open skull, they’d leave me in waiting area as long as I’m breathing … Pathetic - gone are the days when people would be grateful to doctors and nurses for their genuine care and treatment. These days, it’s all about money. Pay them (insurances) and they’d be at your service like dogs. People without insurance may as well just perish from earth, these people wouldn’t care less.. Disgraceful
Negative experience: Very understaffed. 12 hours to see a doctor. People falling off chairs collapsed. I spent 27 hours on a chair. The staff are good but there isn’t enough of them and if you can’t advocate for yourself good luck to you.
Negative experience: The waiting times for surgery is actually surreal. I have varicose veins the past 3 years and they haven’t even given me an ultrasound. I went for a second consultation last month and they didn’t seem to know the answers to the questions I asked. Didn’t seem professional at all. You wouldn’t wanna be on your death bed here
Negative experience: I’m still here for 24 hours and I am waiting for a simple endoscopy. 15h waiting in a uncomfortable chair, after this time I got a bed. There’s no bed, there’s no doctors enough! Probably I’ll need to pay a lot money for this “service”. I’m without eat any food for 35 hours. Totally a neglect. The doctors and nurses are fooling me. They said that the endoscopy would be on Monday afternoon, then they told me that it would be at night, after that they told me that it would be at dawn. Now it's Tuesday morning and they said there's no any right time, meanwhile they say I can't eat or drink anything
Negative experience: Absolute joke. Imagine waiting 9 to 10 hours to be constantly told nothing but lies. “It’ll be two hours”,“it’ll be another hour”,“it’ll be 9 hours”. Then to be spoken to like a dog every time you ask when you will be seen. My boyfriend had savvier chest pains and was made sit for hours. When he asked the male receptionist when he will be seen, he spoke to him like a dog and said “ they’re is more important people in front of you”. While both security guards stood beside him to make him feel intimidated just for asking a question as he was worn out with no sleep and in pain. The nurses were calling names of people that had left due to the long wait. Coming from someone who works in customer service this place is absolutely appalling and they should be ashamed of themselves. They just treat people as a revenue rather that people.
Negative experience: Some staff are doing there best. Paramedics are fantastic. Elderly people who can't speak for themselves and that don't have anyone to shout for them are left to rot with no emergency bell, no one doctors urgent attention etc. Many non urgent cases were seen to before others. Despite the genuine cases arriving via ambulance, it made no time waiting difference for me or others. Neil Prendeville from Cork's Red needs to do another hospital special, this time about Connolly. Nothing has changed in Connolly with regards to organising rotsers, improving equipment, or improving care. One man was left alone with an increasing fever, he stated that the nurse though it might be a burst appendix. No doctor came he's still left behind a curtain. This is within the A&E department. One guy, with nothing much wrong with his was given a bed, a d wheeled off somewhere-in the bed- to see a Doctor and get X-rays etc. He's gone home now. He was looked after. Myself, and that poor man with the fever has just been left. God there's more to tell. I will be writing to many heads after tonight. Another elderly man has been in two hospital's already with heart issues. He's just left behind a curtain......
Negative experience: Very annoyed being sent home as ive being told MRI in Connolly Hospital has not being working for months. Not exceptable. Paying Health Insurance. Basically had symptoms of mini stroke. Not happy
Negative experience: I was admitted 40 days ago and still haven’t received my reports. People are avoiding me and the doctor is nowhere to be found
Fantastic experience: I could not fault the care I received in a&e especially when Dr's were dealing with a serious health issue. Overall very efficient. .
Fantastic experience: The nicest people and most caring staff I have ever met, they looked after my mother wonderfully and treated her with the most care and love, thank you to think the cleaners to the doctors, I can't thank you enough you are wonderful
Negative experience: The warst experience, 12 hours in the waiting room, wish the same for Minister of health.....
Fantastic experience: I had to attend A&E. I was seen by a nurse reasonably quickly although there was a 5 hour wait to see a doctor, but despite this the service and care I got was very good. Everyone was exceptionally nice in my hours of need. I would highly recommend the team here.
Negative experience: I went to the ER with my 7 year old who had temperature over 40 degrees Celsius and very bad cough. Had to wait 5 hours only to get Calpol and being told by the nurse that I should've went to Temple hospital instead of them. I could see how they were treating the other sick children just as bad. The doctor mentioned I should let my child have even a higher temperature as long as he won't have seizures...how is that care?? disgraceful . Parking was horrible, and the emergency department was closed till 9AM?? I will tell my child to be sick between the hours of 9am-5pm from now on, and to seizure if he really wants emergency care.
Negative experience: Disgrace as no visiting at 2oclock.i noticed the carpark full at 10.30 one morning the carpark was full yet no visitors for patients .you can only visit at 5oclock .I think your hoping carpark is empty of a the people parked there to go to there jobs elsewhere. Hope this will be resolved very soon.
Fantastic experience: I was admitted by ambulance to the A& E department on Thursday 17th November. I have to say that the nurses and doctors were incredible while under huge pressure literally running from patient to patient in a very crowded A&E. They are so patient and caring. God bless them for all they do tirelessly. I cannot understand why some people are so abusive, I understand they are vulnerable but to watch how staff try deal with everyone and have to prioritise the more serious cases. Thank you to all for the care given to me.
Negative experience: I was in there on the 25th October 2019 and was butcher and I mean butcher the doctor was a joke would not answer any off my question stills to this day have never been told by the butcher me the consultant I had omg talk to me like I was some he stepped in and never and my question why he butcher me I wish I had died that day because tge last 3 years have been hell they are not doctor they are butcher
Fantastic experience: Fantastic hospital. Very friendly and efficient nurses and doctors. I was in and out within a few hours. Home and all in time for dinner.
Negative experience: Absolutely appalling oncology service. Stay away from here and these oncology services. I use that term very loosely
